Shadow Quilting is a basic technique which sandwiches a piece of solid color fabric called the Design Insert between a top sheer fabric and a foundation fabric. Bonded polyester batting (such as one used for quilts) is placed under the foundation fabric. Backing (a lightweight fabric) is placed under batting.
