A very helpful blog. I need lots of help with social media, and don’t know where to start. Lots of good tips here.
Thanks!

I wish that I liked social media more. It’s a good thing and a bad thing. Good thing, the name gets out there more. Bad thing is that it’s time-consuming and time is money, so it needs a balancing act and enough of a return to make up for the time spent promoting.

So glad we have turbo packs here and so glad our listings go to Google shopping.

Thanks for sharing. It is nice to see that Pinterest is right behind Facebook as a traffic generator. Pinterest is my preference.

Your help pages look very nice!!

I tired facebook on the past and the Facebook not giving any sales for me , also i did try Instagram to ads and still I didn’t saw any sales from there , im using your ads system of 19% from the sale is fees !! and its too much but only this make for me sales so I hope you BONANZA WILL ADVERTISE our little community of sellers here, like other selling sites. because we almost not getting here sales , im trying to make titan membership and use 9% of ads and will see what it will give because this month was terrible!

I would not believe this graph. For us Facebook a waste of time. We even ran paid ads in 2016-2017 spent over $2000 as we where suckered into a contract. Til this day not one sale came from Facebook. For last month the ones we run free post on Pintrest was 96.8% of our Social Media sales Twitter 1.9% Instagram 1.3% Facebook 0%. And our busy internet days have always been Monday and Tuesday the past 4 years. So it you run auctions you want them to end on Monday or Tuesday. If you have a Store front Starting sales on Wednesday are good because Fri-Sun are the busy Store day. Don’t hurt to try paid ads just don’t invest alot until you can see if it work. We learned the hard way. Got burned by Facebook and Yelp. Google ads work but wasn’t enough profit for the high price. The few sales we get on Bonanza are from Google

Hi HawkinsFootwear,

Thanks for your message! It’s always valuable for us to hear the many perspectives of our sellers.

I am a one person business and do not have time or money for Facebook, etc. We need BONANZA TO ADVERTISE for us other than Google shopping. My views and sales continue to drop on Bonanza.I have sold the last 8 years online full-time on other auction sites.I average only 2 sales a month on Bonanza

BonanzaGrace says in response: 06/20/18 at 09:32:41

Hi fantazy007,

Thanks for your message! Bonanza is all about supporting businesses of all sizes, whether a one-person operation or a multi-level online shop.

Effective advertising will vary greatly depending on what’s right for your business, which is why we created the Advertising Broadcaster. You can customize which channels you’d like your items advertised in, as well as specify the commission rate you’re willing to spend if a sale is made. Bonanza covers the advertising fees upfront, so there’s no risk to using the Broadcaster.

Sellers can currently choose to advertise their items on Google, Bing, eBay, our Affiliate networks, and on Bonanza itself via the Bonanza Promotions program. We are always researching additional ad channels, which will be available via the Broadcaster.

To access the Broadcaster, simply select “Advertise items” from the Selling dropdown menu in the upper lefthand corner of the site. You can also visit this help page for more information:

Thanks, and happy selling!

HawkinsFootwear, well put.

Heidi_s_Haute_Deals says: 06/19/18 at 16:57:31

I always share new listings (from all platforms) to Pinterest, Instagram and facebook. Like “Hawkin’s Footware”, I agree Facebook does not generate any sales. How can I tell if a sale was generated from my Pinterest?
Thanks in advance,
Heidi

Too many times I have run specials and promo’s with no reaction. Facebook is far too time consuming as HawkinsFootwear has said in their post. Collectibles is tough and quirky market. Normal methods of advertising don’t always work

Kubehangen says: 06/19/18 at 18:55:16

Excellent. Very useful information!

Well Done Bonanza !

FrogAndBearCreations says: 06/20/18 at 07:06:18

for me Facebook has been a great source of sales with a little effort on my part – I do not use the paid advertising but post in the various groups that I belong to there

artisanjewelrygifts says: 06/20/18 at 13:39:54

I have heard Twitter is a very big traffic bringer (is bringer even a word) anyway I am making up new words today folks. So I was shocked to see that it is 1% is that graph correct? How could twitter only be 1%? and instagram is a huge traffic bringer for me. I guess I will be focusing on promoting on facebook and pinterest… still I can’t believe thats correct! crazy!

(it said I should leave a social media link if I comment so here it is my instagram? – @artisanjewelrygifts

BonanzaGrace says in response: 06/21/18 at 09:57:59

Hi artisanjewelrygifts,

Since this is a special week,we’re going to allow “bringer” as a word! :) That graph you’re referring to is displaying sales that originated from Twitter and does not include the traffic brought from that platform. Additionally, the data used in this infographic is the average for all Bonanza sellers, so it might very from your experience!

Thanks for your message, and for choosing Bonanza!

I have to agree with HawkinsFootwear. At least for the product-type I sell, Pinterest seems to draw the most sales. I don’t purchase ads. I just use the FREE advertisement from sharing the link to my product.
Because I don’t have a cell phone, I can’t use Instagram. It would be interesting to see if I’d get much traffic from that source~~but not interested enough to pay for cell service.
I haven’t had many sales from Bonanza. But the listings are FREE, so I don’t mind.
Prob is that there’s too much competition on the Net. I wish people would realize that’s why sales are low. People seem to want to blame the website(s) they use.
I often hear “[Enter sales platform here] needs to advertise more. If they advertised more, we’d get more traffic.”
Other platforms are very well known and still the sales are slow for each seller on those sites.
It’s simply that the Net sales pie has been sliced so many times that no one seller can make a living off online sales.
This is just the nature of online biz.
Thank you, Bonanza for existing. I have fyn in the community, checking in every day to get my rewards, and I’m looking forward to more badges.
Please don’t take away the HPLs. Another site I used took away HPLs, which was how I expressed my creative personality online.
I do wish that HPLs for vintage/crafted items would be featured on the front page of this site. I know the pics don’t look as clean as new product pics do, but this site is suppose to help us crafters and resellers too.
Please consider this request.
