Bonanza Traffic Update. Bada Bing.
Oct 22, 2010

Bonanza Traffic Update. Bada Bing.

My last traffic update told the tale of a record day.  Today’s traffic update is yet more good news.

First off, September was our biggest traffic month to date.  I don't think I mentioned that last time.  And October is looking good so far.  Direct traffic, that’s folks who type Bonanza.com in their browser address bar, is up nicely.  How nice?  When you compare direct traffic to Bonanza.com vs. a similar period on Bonanzle.com we’re seeing an increase of thousands of users every day. We like to think an easier name is part of that.  Though I'm sure it's a reflection of all our promotion efforts (and by ‘our’ I mean all of you as well).

Also, you likely saw Bill’s update that we’re now in Bing Shopping.  And Bing’s driving a lot more traffic to us as a result.  Traffic from Bing is up just shy of 250%.  And climbing.  To that I’ll happily say – “Bing!”

Thanks to all of you for what you’ve done to promote the site on your blogs, on Facebook and Twitter, or wherever Bonanza takes you.  Extra points for those who changed links to the new URL!  Those old URLs still work of course, but changing your links to the new URL will help move our pages higher up in Google search results.

Oh, and one more thing.  Sales are up too, already higher than they had been at the old 'Nanzle.

Have a great weekend!

P.S.  Have you checked out all our new assets provided by KayceeStudios?  Lots of great selections for your holiday promotion and business cards!

Thanks for the info, Alex!

miriamkay says: 10/22/10 at 09:37:58

Alex this is fantastic news. Corral all that traffic to the ranch

AbbysAttic says: 10/22/10 at 09:55:37

I’ve definitely noticed an upswing this week. Sales are up, too. Interestingly though my sales are coming from GPS more so than any other source. That’s a change and one I really like since I have put a lot of time into getting my listings into GPS shape.

Great news all around.

alexwberg says: 10/22/10 at 09:59:06

@abbysattic – Congrats!

momspennies says: 10/22/10 at 10:49:03

I would like to believe that Alex, but I am not seeing it.
Do you split the feeds and send some to different servers, or different regions. September and October have gone backwards here.

If traffic is up, then we should all be seeing it, if we had it before, we should have it again. Am I Right?

Can you look into it a bit more because your observations are not coinciding with what some of us are seeing. I know this will all get figured out, but we have been trying to tell you all that something isn’t right. Even so, I always felt the name change would be good for us in the long run. Thank you…

pugs says: 10/22/10 at 10:51:05

could that fact that Sept traffic was so high be somewhat due to the name change being Sept 20 and aquiring of 1000 Markets

you are looking at site traffic and both of those would bring additional site traffic

just wondering since so many member are commenting that booth and item views are down

so, those 2 things would explain increased site traffic even though many members saw less, would it not

Glad to hear someones sales are up… lets hope that is contageous for us all

alexwberg says: 10/22/10 at 11:39:39

@momspennies – we don’t direct traffic to different regions or users. Traffic is up across the board, but it might not be up for every individual seller. We’re looking at traffic in total for the entire site.

alexwberg says: 10/22/10 at 11:58:43

@pugs – As far as Sept traffic the press from the acquisition and name change did drive some folks to the site, but it a wasn’t big driver at all. Press releases typically provide a short lived pop in traffic, but die off quickly. We like them for the long term SEO value they have as links to our site.

driver211 says: 10/22/10 at 12:01:39

Super, good news, doing some advertising locally today!

momspennies says: 10/22/10 at 12:02:44

I sent a PM.

pugs says: 10/22/10 at 12:06:34

but, it would have been part of the numbers

and wouldn’t just the traffic from the new 1000Market members be quite a bit

EuropeanGoodies says: 10/22/10 at 12:11:22

I only see traffic up and booth/items views when I post relentlessly on Twitter, FC and the like .

When I do nothing, nobody comes to my booths

Not being negative here, it’s just what it is

alexwberg says: 10/22/10 at 12:18:49

@pugs – yes, it would have been part of the numbers. And yes, 1000 market members would have drove traffic too.

The direct traffic increase I mentioned is likely people going to the homepage (as they are typing it in manually). The Bing traffic should be distributing traffic to item detail pages for those who rank highly with Bing.

chill02wolfart says: 10/22/10 at 12:24:13

Alex, I admit I don’t Twitter, Facebook, Myspace (any of those; personal preference only…there are many people who do). But I do see Bonanza’s growth since I joined last year, around this time.

I do believe that one day (hopefully soon), Bonanza will be a household name. Also, it would be a PLUS to see it “run with the Big Dogs”…as well as kick a “well-known” site square in the tush.

I will say, I’ve seen a recent decline in sales for my Seasonal Items. Overall, my “Item Sales” more than doubled from last year. Also, I know that Support has been working diligently. And that transition (while bringing new growth), can also have its share of other problems.

As we all know, even a “larger, well-known” site can have MORE than its share of problems, and ZIP in the way of Support.

I wish Bonanza the Best

Cheryl

I know my sales are up and I am happy

Bighorsecoins says: 10/22/10 at 12:40:31

We were having a huge boost in visits to our booth for about the last 2 weeks, until yesterday when we got a big 1 visit. Hoping that the numbers go back up and then translate into some sales. Looks are good but money is great.

alexwberg says: 10/22/10 at 12:50:29

@bighorsecoins (and everyone) – don’t worry too much if your Google reports show a drop in traffic for the previous day. They often are behind in reporting. I typically see ‘yesterday’ show traffic down in the morning and then it’s magically back up to normal levels (or up) after a few hours. It’s common for them to be behind. This happened at my last company as well. I wish they would update their reporting to say ‘partial day’ (or something) when they are behind as it’s irritating.

Silkworm says: 10/22/10 at 13:04:06

I’ve noticed in my analytics the past few weeks a huge increase in direct traffic vs. search engine traffic. Used to be inverse of that. And I’ve sold more in a one week period the past week than I ever have in my 1 1/2 years here. So something (or everything) is working.

Bighorsecoins says: 10/22/10 at 13:04:37

thats cool Alex, like I said, I really don’t care if it says 1 or 100 as long as a few of them spend some dollars.

J7339 says: 10/22/10 at 13:35:30

I am still not seeing any of my listings on Bing – trafffic seems to have dropped off – and sales have yet to show themselves.

alexwberg says: 10/22/10 at 13:56:41

@Silkworm & ATCC – glad to hear sales are up!

Studio7 says: 10/22/10 at 15:03:31

Thanks for the update Alex. Always nice to hear whats going on behind the scenes to benefit us. Best Wishes!

BookbinEtc says: 10/22/10 at 15:09:55

Thanks for the update Alex. Views are about the same for me, but if sales are up for some; I’m glad of that. Everyone who buys on the site, from any seller, is a potential return customer; either for that seller or another.

p.s. Is there a way to search our items on Bing Shopping – other than individually?

alexwberg says: 10/22/10 at 15:35:27

@bookbinetc – I’m not aware of a way to search multiple items at once. Sorry! That sounds tedious.

BookbinEtc says: 10/22/10 at 16:02:31

Thanks then. I’ll just hope my new stuff all ends up there.

Rosenthal says: 10/22/10 at 16:32:44

Did I read correctly that only items are on Bing that are NEWLY listed since you introduced it?
So: No new items, no show on Bing.

And as for sales – it definitely depends on what you are offering.

sarascosmeticshop says: 10/22/10 at 16:33:43

Thank you! I appreciate your many efforts. Things are looking up. Keep those peeps comin’ our way!!

SharsBoutique says: 10/22/10 at 16:45:43

My Google Analytics also show a huge increase in direct traffic vs. search engine traffic.

CoinsYouWant says: 10/22/10 at 16:56:41

only had one sale on 09/20/10 before that was in February more exposure would be very helpful!!!!

debinokc says: 10/22/10 at 17:03:57

Bada Boom! ♥

bdcollectibles says: 10/22/10 at 17:23:46

I have been on this site as a premiere member since September 2008 and I continue to hope that someday I can stop selling on the bay but to date my sales are few and far between. I have not seen any increase in traffic despite my continued efforts to promote my booth. As my second anniversary on Bonanza has passed I am finding it increasingly difficult to justify the time I spend here and the monthly fee I pay as a premiere member. I continue to hope though…

SunflowerAntics says: 10/22/10 at 17:50:04

OK, traffic count here on my View Count is not good, but if I look at my Google Analytics – it has dramatically improved!

WTG Bonanza!!!!!!!!

AnnappleBonanza says: 10/22/10 at 17:51:18

Like the sound of that traffic!

Clang ,clang, clang went the trolley
Bing, bing, bing went the bell

BookbinEtc says: 10/22/10 at 19:02:39

No, Rosenthal, it’s not newly listed items. Bing Shopping currently only accepts NEW items (no used).

Alex, I commented on Bill’s Bing Blog, but I don’t know if you folks check for new comments on old posts, so I’m reposting my question here.

I found a few of my items in Bing Shopping, but the prices are wrong. Do they only do even $$, or is that how you send them?

I had two shirts that show as $10, but the actual listing is priced at 10.95; same with skirts at $14 – actual price 14.97.

Is this anything we need worry about?

AutumnLeaves says: 10/22/10 at 19:02:43

5 sales from 5 direct visits.

Works for me, good job boyz

chestoftreasures says: 10/22/10 at 19:10:12

Great news! I noticed that 2.8% of my visits came through Bing! Bing Bang!

mastoyshop says: 10/22/10 at 20:11:57

I have sort of regular sales now, have been really busy with other work so hard to say.. Bill Thanks for all you do.

samiamsxa says: 10/22/10 at 22:04:43

Good to hear! Sales are way up for me this month! I’ve averaged so far this month a sale a day and out of all those sells only a few of them were not bonzbuyers, I do believe that is a good thing correct? It means they found me organically and I’ve noticed that the bonzbuyer name has been changed on quite a few to a real name, does that mean they have joined the ranch?

polzar says: 10/23/10 at 02:11:10

Glad to hear all is moving forward and our new handle is proving beneficial just as prodicted. The ranch is stedily on the move up the ladder, a great feeling for us all.

Bargains4All says: 10/23/10 at 05:46:20

This is great news. In time we should all see an increase in sales. Keep the faith, we have built it and they will come.

CoinsYouWant says: 10/23/10 at 08:51:07

Always keeping faith and I believe in Bonanza! just need a sugar daddy to come buy all my coins… I have thousands and they need new homes!

alexwberg says: 10/23/10 at 10:09:57

@bookbinetc – odd. Send support an email on those items. Thanks for the tip.

JB7339 says: 10/23/10 at 15:23:16

Had another look this morning – and cannot see any of my items from either store on Bing – I know they said it would take a couple of weeks.

fiftiesdrivein says: 10/23/10 at 18:25:34

i’m happy to report that I had a sale direct from bing! “bing!”

alexwberg says: 10/23/10 at 23:04:55
