Well that pre-announcement of our new Faves functionality didn't last too long now did it?
For those of you who didn't read the prior post, you can now mark an item as a 'fave' (AKA a favorite) similar to how you have been able to mark different booths as your favorites and have them displayed on your profile pages.
The purpose of our new 'Faves' functionality is to ‘bubble-up’ interesting merchandise for like-minded shoppers. A fave is a your way telling the world you think an item is awesome. Want to see for yourself? Check out a search result or a booth and let your cursor rest briefly over an item.
Not only can you fave an item right there, but you can also launch our new 'quick view' item browser. This larger item browser is now launched on-demand whereas the old item browser launched automatically. The new item browser also includes far more information, large format pictures, and the ability to browse from item to item.
You can also fave an item on the item detail page - right next to the other choices for wish lists, Facebook, and Twitter. While it's super easy to declare your faves, don't just go throwing your faves around. Faves are intended to be items that you really dig, like, or think are cool/hip/awesome/fabulous. Your faves are stored on a page similar to our Collection design and can be found linked from your profile by your favorite booths.
Below are some anticipated questions, but if you have more please fire away!
Why can’t I fave my own items? We want faves to be as genuine as possible. And if too many people are simply faving their own merchandise the browsing experience will erode. And, there’s already a great way to track one’s own items – in their booth. ; )
Will faving items impact placement in search? No. What about my fees? Nope.
Why are faves public? So they can be browsed. We want to make the site more shopper-friendly. And with 3.5 million items in inventory we need your help. This is similar to how favorite booths function now.
What if I want to store something in private? There are a couple of options. You can still use the save for later feature (which we decided to keep). You can also create an HPL (hand picked list) and store the list as a 'draft' (which we fixed to work properly).
Fire away with other questions!

Awesome!! Thank you!
I love this! Will be so handy to not have to use the back arrow while making HPLs. Love that you included the add to HPL on this! Love how you can scroll through items too. If I were shopping I would absolutely love the way this works!
I noticed all these changes last night and find them scooby dooby do!
Thank you!
Way to go, Bonanza! Keep up the good work.
editing my own comment! so it won’t confuse others
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bonzastic!!
Great idea! Come Fave my neat stuff.
@sofyflu2 – the ‘more like this’ link was removed last night. If you are still seeing it on your item detail pages it could just be a memory issue (aka ‘cache’) and should go away soon.
This sounds like a great new feature to this new-old member who is still getting used to all the extras:-)
Thanks for the update!
YEAH!!! It’s gone
Thank you guys so much for taking that out
Is there a way to show # of available like it used to on top?
Can we ask for one thing?
Sweet! ;-)
I hover over an item after I have my search list up and nothing happens.
Great! Thank you!
I’m faving this functionality, LOL! Very cool!
NO HOVERING ANYMORE – that is the number one beauty of this feature!! You click on it – as said above it is elective, not automatic. No more pop-up. I love it! Nice big pics, too!
Only thing I will miss is the ability to hide a seller during a search, you know – with pages and pages of similar items, or items I am not looking for. That seems to be gone.
Oh and you listened, NICE Thank you.
‘More like this’ is gone.
Now it’s a great new feature all together
Correction,
‘More like this’ is NOT gone and it is working!
Great feature !
@BlueBoy – ‘more like this’ displays on quick view IF you are viewing a quick-view item from Search results – just like it used to in the old pop-up that launched automatically. It should NOT appear when viewing a quick-view from a detail page.
Thank you for removing “More like this” from my DETAIL PAGE but reiterating the fact that it does still exist if a buyer is doing a general search just so everyone is aware.
looks great thank you!
Cool – thanks!
Great job! Thank you.
Love your UI’s user friendliness. Quick view is a great way to minimize time consuming page-to-page navigation. Faves is just awesome. Keep up the good work Bonanza!
Hey; Thanks Alot, I’m a new user and already it it gets better and better. I may stop selling on E… altogther.
I noticed it last night, but didn’t have time to research this new excitement. I’m looking forward to trying it out!
I have not tried it yet but plan to ASAP. Hope it is as great all comments shows.
I wish I had more time to work my booth, this is such a great site to sell and buy from. Question….will I be able to tell when someone has “faved” an item of mine?
