We Seek Out: Newsletter Writer

Got a love for Bonanzle and a knack for yappin?

After more than a year of wishing we wrote more newsletters, we have finally arrived at "acceptance" of the fact that we simply don't have time to put out a compelling newsletter as often as we would like to (every 3-4 weeks).  But I'll bet that someone out there is up to the task?  We could go hire a writer, but it would be our preference to give this job to someone who is already a part of the Bonanzle community.

If you're interested, please email us at team@bonanzle.com with a brief explanation as to why you feel you would be qualified to write our newsletter.  Include a sample few paragraphs from a newsletter you might choose to send to our buyers today (you can mention upcoming holidays... or draw attention to something cool on Bonanzle that buyers might not know about) so we can get a taste of your writing style.

No exact pay has been chosen for this position yet, but we'll figure out something for the right candidate.

P.S.  Another position we are considering looking to get help with is "official Twitter poster."  As anyone who has become a Bonanzle follower is aware, we're pretty bad at keeping the thing up-to-date.  If you think this might be your cup of tea, email the same address with a link to your existing Twitter account and some of your ideas for the official Bonanzle Twitter feed.

I’m sure there are wonderful people in our Bonanzle family that have the talents for these positions.

Please remember, when you go international, there are many of us who would gladly translate for Bonanzle.

Wish I had time to do the newsletter and/or Twitter, but don’t. I’m sure you’ll find the perfect person – it will be great to be updated regularly! Super idea!

Shinycquin says: 07/15/09 at 20:12:09

Wow, sounds like fun! I love creative writing…but I’ve got too much on my plate! I start school again in the Fall…and just signed up to sell Mary Kay along with my Bonanzle…kids….sheesh…I’m getting tired just thinking of it!

Good luck Mark, finding someone. I am sure that won’t be a problem, since there are so many great people in our Bonanzle family!

Lisas_TX_Treasures says: 07/15/09 at 20:25:00

Personally I would love the job. I not only enjoy writing newsletters, and have experience in doing such, but I truly love marketing and I especially enjoy “getting out the word” when something is as great as this site. The only downfall I believe to my taking this on would be lack of personal experience with the site. (Ha, I actually got my Google Feed to work yesterday and my stats are up already!!) I will begin work on my first newsletter presentation. Find time to take on anything more … hardly… make time, You Bet!! I’m on it!!

FDCbedding says: 07/15/09 at 21:23:58

I know there are a few people I have seen in the forums that would be great for these jobs…

Hope they are able to step up to the plate. I can not say who they are as it would put them on the spot! lol

I vote for kimskorner. (Not that its a vote thingy )

I like the idea you are looking in house for these positions, it shows you feel the bonanzle family is up to the task. I suggest cheyenne2u

driver211 says: 07/16/09 at 07:31:43

Wish I could write a Cheesy based newsletter for you but I do not have those talents needed to do that as well as many others on this site. I also hope the ones who post such cleaver words in the forums will step up to the task. Good luck on your hunt for a writer. May I suggest that whoever gets the job maybe interviews a seller now and then in the newsletter, that will add a personal touch also….

I think it should be pugs she is great and always up to date on all issues bonanzle

fashionrunway says: 07/16/09 at 09:03:29

I vote for Judy (Blue Penny Lady). She rocks at helping on here!

SunflowerAntics says: 07/16/09 at 09:42:56

Sounds like a GREAT idea – you Boyz just can’t do it all!

ArtsnEnds says: 07/16/09 at 13:28:15

Fantastic idea. I agree with the many posters that there are talented people on Bonanzle up to these tasks! Excited to see the results and finished products. And yes I would hope the newsletter would feature different sellers, helpful information, highlight or draw attention to areas that we are all missing. Infinite positive possibilities!

SCAT says: 07/17/09 at 06:37:13

I’ve been a newsletter writer for FLOCK – For Love and Cats & Kittens a nonprofit org. with the main goal of Saving Feral cats from the streets and educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets.

I was also the newsletter editor for the local Bird Club in Las Vegas.

I was also the newsletter editor for Terrible’s Town Casino, where I held the position of Executive Assistant to the General Manager.

MizzBritches says: 07/17/09 at 09:54:20

I may not be able to write a newsletter but I can rhyme in 140 characters or less so I just sent this:

I’d love to be your Twitter Tweeter in my green & orange pointy hat. I’ll keep the tweeps well informed on where all the Bonanzle actions at

Yep, Dr. Seuss rules

Good luck to all!

ZiggyZool says: 07/17/09 at 10:44:34

I’m so glad to see that Henrietta (Felicitations) has tossed her hat into the ring, she is so very talented at writing and has the experience to back her – I have read her Red Ink Diary everyday for ages and ages and find it both entertaining and chock full of good and timely information. Likewise, TheWithchesBritches (Dina) is one of the first folks I thought of to be your official Twitter Tweeter, her tweets are retweeted daily by many. She supports so many Bonanzler’s with her tweets about their sales, and available products and makes it interesting and fun. Plus Dr Seuss Rocks

Thanks Bill for looking within the Bonanzle Community for folks to fill these positions. There is a ton of talent out there just waiting to be tapped.

Good Luck in your quest…and to all the wonderful talented applicants..

Zig

Edi says: 07/17/09 at 13:04:16

I’m with Ziggy .. I think Dina would be fantastic as the official Twitter Tweeter.

yellowsand1964 says: 07/19/09 at 02:36:37

I agree with fashion runaway, bluepenlady is fantastic, do u see her videos at youtube.com ? are super and very helpful, so Judy is the most qualify person to do it

nutz4bookznstuff says: 07/20/09 at 05:15:45

What a great idea to give this job to a bonanzlite.

I would love the job as I have experience in writing and have won awards in the past…but alas…I’m not the right candidate, as my tech, twitter, google and like knowledge is limited. My time is too. :(

But, there are many talented and knowledgeable members on bonanzle to choose from. Many are noted above. I hope they will step up and apply.

BONANZLE ROCKS

It would be great if the Boyz would reply to emails sent to them for this newsletter position. Maybe you need a “Email Corresponder” :>) No twitter for me

ShopaholicTreasures says: 07/22/09 at 02:30:04

You Boyz are wonderful!!! You continue to come up with wonderful ideas. There are many right here in the community that would qualify for both positions!!! Although I am fairly new, I know that you will make the best possible decsion on whom to hire!

I wish all applicants the best of luck!!!

andi says: 07/27/09 at 07:24:52

Hi Bill – I’ve had lots of experience designing, writing, editing and disseminating newsletters. I handled all of the marketing at our non-profit as well as wrote grants and managed programs. I can give you links to articles/newsletters I’ve written. Although I’m new to Bonanzle, I’d be glad to help out! I love this site

Roxannmi says: 07/27/09 at 19:27:57

I would love to “help” with writing the newsletter, I love to write and am quite articulate, I just do not “have the time required” for a “full time” dedication, also my technical (computerese) knowledge is limited. Why not select one or two “major players”, to whom “underlings and volunteers” could “submit articles and ideas for approval”? That would not only “encourage interaction and cooperation” within the bonanzle community, but it would also " feel the pulse" of what is on the minds of current bonanzlers. Plus, having the “pool of potential article submissions” would prevent the job from becoming too “overwhelming trying to sort out what to write about” for just one or two people. You could have a monthly “deadline” for submissions, ideas and suggestions each month. Say, if the paper is to be published on the 10th of each month, All submissions would need to be “in” by the 28th of the previous month. Or something like that. You might even want to, instead of a (one) “paid position”, just do as some of the Women’s magazines and Readers Digest do… pay $25.00 (or whatever amount you would decide upon that is fair) for each article that is accepted to be published. You would then maybe have ? A volunteer team of ten people? who would “vote” on which items they want to see published that month… well, it might not work, but, then again, it might .. would not hurt to give it a tryout say for five or six months, just some of my thoughts on this. I particularly like the “interactivity and connectedness” associated with the web, and this would “enhance and improve upon that” in my opinion, much better than the first interactive about what’s on your mind, good old radio.

BabeeThreads says: 07/30/09 at 13:32:05

Count me in on the Twitter end. I’ve got some great ideas already!

LittleOnlineStore says: 07/31/09 at 22:54:02

Has anyone actually applied for this yet?

I’m thinking a “You know where to find me.” doesn’t count?

It would be interesting, but wondering where one would get good content. I suppose a lot of content could be taken off of the forums. You know, member jokes, member tips and so on.

The.Natural.Shoppe says: 08/01/09 at 08:14:03

Yes they’ve already made their decision. Can’t wait to see who it is!

RayvensRarities says: 08/10/09 at 10:27:43

I"d nominate Judy to (bluepennylady) She’s educated in marketing and many other aspects of selling but at this point in time I don’t think she has any time for it. She’s very busy getting folks re-approved for Google base that were dis-approved and other issues.
But she’d make a great choice

deescollect says: 08/12/09 at 08:38:44

I would love to be considered to either contribute to or write the Bonanzle newsletter. I am a newby to Twitter but I must say, I enjoy all internet related activities. (Maybe not all)

LittleOnlineStore says: 08/15/09 at 21:27:34

Well, they should share who it will be. Maybe it’s a we’ll know when the newsletter comes out?

Ashleesgiftsforyou says: 08/24/09 at 15:42:27

well sounds like there are a lot of talented people out there..i am new only came on board 8/21 and i can even get my google feed to work, but will keep trying…love the new adventure and any advice will be very much welcomed..Misty is actually my little sweet “pooch” and will have photo up soon…thanks for stopping by my booth

countrysales says: 09/24/09 at 09:19:52

I worked as a newsletter writer for one of our local wineries here. I designed the layout, wrote the newsletter and sent it out to each of our departments. I would love to give this a shot.

I am very new to Bonanzle as I only came across the site for the first time about two days ago and join immediately. It seems to be a wonderful place. I would like more information if you can provide it to me about the newsletter.

I am a collage graduate and specialized in journalism. Will be happy to send my transcript if needed.

BubbasTreasures says: 09/27/09 at 22:11:03

Has anyone thought about letting the people who use Bonanzle submit there own stories, of course following the outline for content or something. That way new ideals and subjects from users as well as informational to all.

thecozykitten says: 11/15/09 at 19:37:54

Here is my 3 cents…Bonanzle is awesome- a blessing that echoes with simplicity, harmony, cheer and light! Open hearts are the rulers here. A newsletter is great. Break it down Bonanzle! Divide share and exchange positive information, everyone has a very specific area where they flow with wide open and refreshing variety. Time appears to be an issue, but when you have the talent to capture each individual and unite the common threads…the clock itself will expire! Different hands: a quote, most bizarre item for the month, games, top sales, inspiration, most wanted item, or items we don’t have and need (to keep loyal clients for one stop shopping!) Cutest avatar…
Everything else is on the site. Stick with positive perspectives, snowflake style!

We really are blessed to be a part of Bonanzle and The Babies Daddy deserves our care and appreciation too! Forget the pay, who doesn’t have a bit to write a column? We do our own promotions and pictures all of the time. Lets do the right thing, follow the light and take joy in returning the love here! Divide and overcome obligation, time, and greed! Guys, search your hearts. This is the right thing to do, it is! Money saved is money earned! How bout those listing fees? Hmmmm?

Thanks for caring,

Danielle
