What are the common grades of silver

I have been tagging jewelry all day – and have come across some filigree pieces that appear to be silver and on one I see the numbers “660” or “666” – kinda hard to make out.

Am familiar with 925 silver but these others have me baffled. Are there different grades of silver from other countries?

I’m no expert but know that in India they used to use 800 for what we call 925. I found a piece once marked .375 and after much research found out it was English and a low grade. Get yourself a good magnifying glass and give it a good look and then go see what you can find at a Google Search.

Grade 660 is a precipitation hardening austentic stainless steel widely used for high temperature fastening and bolting materials.
Its relatively high nickel content for a stainless steel means that is sometimes categorized as a nickel alloy.
The grade is commonly used for operating temperatures up to 700°C (1300°F).
