I obtained a gold coin via change. Was told by a gold trader that it was an error coin. He offered to buy it, but I said no. Even though I don’t know what I have.
Can you give me an idea of what type of value a defective coin could be?
I was told that type of defect was very rare. It’s a blemish where the stamper hugged the side of the coin.

The coin you have has no gold content. It is a copper coin with an outer layer of Manganese Brass consisting of Copper, Zinc, Manganese, and nickel. That is what gives that “Golden Look”.
I am not familiar with a “Blemish” error and your pic is not clear enough to identify it.
A nice clear picture is needed to help you.

It looks like you have a 2009 one dollar Native American (agriculture) coin. Like the [phone number removed] Sacagawea one dollar coin it is not gold only a golden color, and you will find the year and mint mark on the edge of the coin, as is the E PLURIBUS UNUM, but as Richard said, the pictures you show are not clear enough to show the error clearly..

Like Richard and FLaTrader said, there is no gold in that coin at all. Your pictures are really bad to even attempt to tell what kind of damage was done to the coin.
If someone was foolish enough to offer $100 you should take it.

I’ll try to take a better photo. The Trader had offered me $100 for the coin.
I certainly agree that the pic is bad, really bad, but I don’t know how to take a pic for a coin.
Anyway, I don’t think the clerk was “foolish”, as Big Horse Coins says.
The clerk looked in some sort of blue book of coins and looked up the coin and it was worth $$ because of the type of “blemish” it had on it. Said according to the book, it was rare for that type of blemish to happen.
