Coupon question

Actually I have several questions related to coupons.

Trying to get more eyes on my new store (and of course sales), so would something like a “new customer” 10% off coupon be a good course of action? What I wanted to do was to have a 10% off $x, but have them use the coupon code to get it. Instead, what’s available is EITHER % off $ W/O code – automatic, everyone gets it – OR, a code that is just % off (any amount, no specific value there), but they do have to enter it. So it’s going to have to be one or the other. What do you guys have the most luck with for fairly high ticket items? And if you have it where they need to enter the code, do you post it in the store somehow so they can find it, or just leave it as “no code, no discount”? If I need to post it in the store, where would be the best place? I know I’m not alone in not scrolling thru the zillion chats in the chat window to find something of value there.

Also, I have various codes floating around out there from different venues – past customers, emails, marketing ideas, etc. So how do I keep someone from using more than one coupon code and taking the last of my profit? One code is doable, two codes and I’m basically giving things away… Bonz doesn’t seem to have a “failsafe” plan for keeping buyers from using more than one code – so I’m asking the REAL pros – you other sellers – for your real life experience in this area.

I’m also wanting to come up with something to give incentive for those who refer my store to new customers, but I am totally stumped on what would be a good incentive for the referring person. I want to motivate others to tweet, facebook, instragram, and other social media to get my store and items out for the “masses”. I don’t “do” social media and won’t at this point in time take time away from other things more pressing to learn it. So I want to reward others who love to do that kind of thing.

Thanks for taking time to read my questions. I hope you have a few minutes to offer some suggestions for me! Have a great selling day!

First off…buyers can only enter one code…if the coupon is published then they can either use the published discount OR enter a code for another…but it is

Either/Or Once a code is entered the ability to enter another no longer exists

There is also the option of have a Item Price Discount which [URL removed]

Item price discount
Orders totaling more than $XXX will receive a X % discount on the order subtotal.

Edit Booth Option
First option
Item price discount

Now this is where you may get into trouble, because if they have a coupon code they can enter it and if they go over the XXX total…the buyer will get both discounts..

Since you are a gold member, you also have the option of using The Markdown Manager for visible Mark Down on Selected items or categories

Update Items as a Group
Item Basic
Apply Discount (it is over to the right)…
This can be applied to what ever items you select….
(This option is only good for 7 days per month…unless there has been a change)

As to where to put the Coupon Code…Use your Booth panels or even put it On your banner (you will have to modify your banner and change it out whenever you don’t want the coupon)…
This is dependent on the fact that someone actually comes into the booth and sees it..

If they come from google, they may never see the coupon code

Big but…there is no option to limit it to first time buyers…but I give a code to first buyers on their invoice that they can use when/if they return

What a great explanation for coupons for me. Some I knew, most I didn’t. Appreciate your help!

I love the idea of a repeat buyer coupon included in the invoice! I never utilized coupons because I thought they had to be published to work.. but just giving customers a code to your unpublished coupons works too? I LOVE that!
