Help me with selling please!

I’ve been on Bonanza since the end of April and I still haven’t sold anything. I did a Facebook ad and got a great response with likes, but the activity didn’t transfer well to my Bonanza page. I had good viewing on Bonanza before but it’s dropped considerable lately. I added 6% commission maybe 2 weeks ago which didn’t change my viewing stats. Yesterday and today I’ve added 2 new products since I realize offering options will help a potential customer. However I don’t want to be making a ton of product and it never sells either. I also have been posting on Pinterest as well. I even added a freebie for any purchase. Please help! I’d appreciate any critiques or suggestions for my booth. [URL removed]

Okay, I checked out your shop. cute pillows! but I think that maybe they are a bit over priced. make sure to keep adding products to keep a full shop. and color does sell. keep it colorful as much as possible.

Also, keep the backgrounds white. I think they will work best with what you sell! don’t give up.

Charming, you have great pillows, but the problem might be in search. Think like you are a buyer looking for pillows. They might search ‘yellow & white pillow’ or ‘lime green & black pillow’. I know when I search for items, I use just a few keywords, enough to get results I am looking for. With iPhone and mobile searches, the fewer words in the title the better, and Google seems to like this better. A seller will not search Charming Pillows Handmade, which are words you can add to your description. If you Google color combinations of pillows, you be able to see what I am trying to explain. Don’t give up, just play around with your titles, and see if that helps. Best of luck.

Cute pillows, but many folks who might find these pillows attractive will also know that they can make them from fabric scraps or remnants for a fraction of your list price. I’m a seamstress and making pillows w/ leftovers is one of my fave things to do. Also, you start every title with “Charming”. Focus on how a buyer might enter search words—they won’t be looking for “Charming” pillows—maybe for specific colors or shapes. I think it will help if you try to “think like a buyer” when writing your titles and descriptions (esp. 1st 250 characters of your description—for Google appeal). You absolutely MUST continue to self-promote—otherwise your delightful pillows will stay on your shelf! That said, welcome to bonanza.com, and best wishes for future sales!

And I know that your booth name is “Charming Pillows”, but unless until that name has huge recognition, it likely won’t bring you very many buyers!

I would try the 9% advertising. You also need to correctly list your items to optimize internet searches. You are using “handmade” as brand – do not use symbols in any of the traits or attributes, Like " ". Yellows is not a color, but yellow is, etc. You only have 12 items so that can effect sales.

Just a [URL removed] You don’t have any feedback so I would try buying a promotion package. There are several people on Bonz that offer this service. It’s reasonable and will give you more exposure and start to built your feedback.
Continue to build up your inventory. Don’t give up.

1. You only have 12 listings in your booth. Right now, it looks like you have barely touched your pinkie toe in the water.

2. Your pictures don’t look professional. Some of the pillows are on top of a wrinkled white sheet on a couch.

3. There are lots of pillow makers out there, and quite honestly, many of them have 100s of pillows. They have invested $ into fabric, and have a lot for buyers to choose from. It’s the nature of the [URL removed] it often takes $ to make $.

I want to add another [URL removed]

4. You have odd sizes for pillows. Most people want standard pillow sizes (i.e. 18 X 18 inches) that fit pillow forms. You should consider this when making your pillows.

Hi,

you have a nice booth, with 10% off coupon and I see you regularly promote with Facebook and Pinterest.

Wider range – would be good, also offer Custom made sets with a choice of fabric and size. Made to order with sample of fabric.

Prices – do seem high, but express the quality of your material and items, time taken to create the pillow, Choices available, flexible terms.

Booth Discounts – add an extra discount for customers who spend over a certain amount. This may encourage buyers to purchase a whole set of throw pillows.

Feedback – many customers are hesitant to purchase from someone on zero feedback. Make a couple of purchases here on Bonanza to lift you off the zero (oldie tip, but still a goodie).

Profile – Add a more detailed welcome message, explain the items you sell, quality, materials and that you are open to custom jobs etc.
The profile page is often the first page buyers may see.

Search – when I search for Pillow I see over 16,000 results.
Pillow handmade – 1223 results.
Test the search using different keywords and different combinations of the words, they do have an affect. Compare your listing to some of the other sellers and make some small changes to improve your search position.

Good luck, wishing you happy sales :)

I realize I don’t have feedback which could definitely influence a buyer, but I was anxiously awaiting that first purchase in order to get that feedback. You are saying another booth can leave feedback on my page just because I purchased from them?

xxPhyndz says: June 10, 2013

Yes, Charming, if you make a purchases on Bonanza, the sellers will most likely leave you feedback, as anchor states.

Your booth and your items are just fine! Do Not Rush Out into Buying anything trip “boost your sales” Please! Bonanza is a FREE listing site and paying extra for advertising is just ridiculous! Basically patience is the key. You’re not paying until you sell, so just leave all your hard work right where out is, after all that’s what Bonanza is here for… They don’t “end” your listing, it’s here for good… Just be patient :-)

I greatly appreciate everyone’s feedback and tips. I will slowly work through this long list you have given me to get my booth updated! I started by adding the coupon and if that doesn’t work I’ll permanently drop the price since the coupon isn’t immediately visible.

Free URL web submission sites is a way to go to advertise your booth, also free advertising sites for individual items with a link back to your booth is another way. Craigslist with a link back to your item in your booth is another. so many options. One [URL removed] Mega search words, make a list of all products and descriptions, form a list of words (not repeating words) that you will use if you try URL web submissions, [URL removed] charming, pillows, hand, made, cotton, polyester, material, blue, red, pattern, print etc. This is how google bots search your booth already for indexing in their system.
