I got a message from Bonanza saying one of my items was at risk of not being seen in Google because UPC was missing. There was a hole on one of the numbers, so I couldn’t read it. Item was listed new with tags. What if I listed it new without tags? If Google requires certain brands to have UPC, what happens to the new without tags items? Are all those brands changed to generic, or is that index coded differently?
Just curious.

First I would search the item in google shopping..if there are others listed, click on of the items scroll down and get the upc (you could also check ebay for listings of the same items to get the upc)…unless the item is somewhat rare..finding upc is not that difficult these days
If if it was used, sometimes, the upc is still required (basically if a upc exists, you should try to find new, used or whatever)so new w/o tags really would not change the requirements
you can also try here, though I have not had much luck with finding the upc for items here except on the newest of items

Also if there is a mpn then use that instead.. only need 2 of the 3 attributes, upc, mpn, brand

Go to Batch edit
Search optimize
Find the item and you will see this for any items that do not have the required attributes

you can also add attributes/change and correct them here too

If the item is listed as NEW, then it is a rule here to list the UPC. A quick search for your item as ccmom suggests can get you that missing information you need.

You can get upc numbers from Yoopsie.com. Its a google requirement for new items
