New seller fee's please help me understand...

If you haven’t heard, Bonanza has a new seller fee structure. Here’s the link just in case you haven’t read or heard about it.

https://www.bonanza.com/site_help/advertising/new_broadcaster_fees

My question is regarding the self promoting – the referral link and how it works

if I hire someone to promote, they use the (for instance) Bonz tweet share link. By using this link, will it automatically enter a code so Bonanza can tell it’s self promoting and the lower fee is assessed?

I’m sure I will have other questions as time goes on, but right now, this is a biggie. If the bonz tweet share link doesn’t identify (add referral link), then why is it there?

Thank you in advance for any assistance. I’m dense sometimes so go slow with me :)

Any sale made by a link other than one of Bonanza’s actual ad links or google shopping will not be considered as part of the ad fee…they know when their ads are clicked..they are charged…ie

These are not included in the ad links fee structure..

If you go to Booth Settings
Click on Advertisement
scroll down to your items you will see something like

EDITED COMMENTS
73 total views…sale as result of these links will be at the flat rate of 3.5%
2 google ad views…a sale due to one of these links will be a pro-rated charge depending on the advertising fee structure I chose..

Since I run essentially a 24/7 twitter campaign..I get loads of total views…but as you see only two clicks from google shopping…

IF the sale occurs because of the ad link, I will be charged for the ads..otherwise, the fvf will be the 3.5%..as stated above

The referral link is new and sounds great…since it looks to give html code to insert into a web page, blog etc…and if a sale comes to you through the referral links than there is no fee as it says the referral link will tell bonz where it came from…free is free…

If the referral link is on your FB or other social media page, and is used and a sale results, then it is still free…that is my interpretation of the new fee structure…

Guess, I may have to get my blog pages up and running again…

New Edit…to show referral link to booth vs direct link to booth

This brings up another question..a direct link? Is the (using above #‘s) 73 are direct links? if so, then that is also charged the normal advert. rate, no discount. Which brings me back to my question… don’t mean to be dense

Once_Again says: October 21, 2017

I don’t know how to tweet or facebook, I just learned this. At 72, I decided to hire someone to do the socxial promoting.

ccmom says: October 21, 2017

direct link means, straight to the item from a link…If you put a link in the comments and I went to it..that is a direct link…put link on social media..that is a direct link back to the item…you are not charged

ccmom says: October 21, 2017

You are not charged an advertising fee, just basic fvf

ccmom says: October 21, 2017

I will go to your booth over the next few days and pull some direct links for twitter…and run them for you…then you can check your own views then…I will also email the links so that you can see how it works

Once_Again says: October 21, 2017

AND there lies the issue. Direct link is charged normal adv fees if there is no referral code. The referral code needs to be in the link. That is the way I underastand it.

Once_Again says: October 21, 2017

If you go to the link provided above, in the first paragraph, there is another link called referral code.

Once_Again says: October 21, 2017

I believe each of us has our own referral code. I could be wrong. If I’m right, how do people who do promoting know this code and how do they apply it?

ccmom says: October 21, 2017

“Direct link is charged normal adv fees” no it is charged the regular 3.5% fvf (this is not an advertising fee)…The referral link..is totally different..there is attached html code

ccmom says: October 21, 2017

This is a “referral link” Check out my booth, ccmom. This is a direct [URL removed] go to my booth,

ccmom says: October 21, 2017

Sorry the referral link “Check out my booth, ccmom” which will simple show as

ccmom says: October 21, 2017

seems I cannot get the referral link to show….so I will post it as a screenshot above

ccmom says: October 21, 2017

you are confusing the 3.5% fvf with an adversizing fee…the 3.5% is the basic and has been for many years, before google started charging to list…after google started charging to list, we were offered the option to pay a higher fvf for listing in Google shopping…

Once_Again says: October 22, 2017

In reading the fee structure, direct traffic falls under the “Broadcaster” rate, unless there is the referral code in the link. So people who click on links in FB or Twitter that don’t have the referral code will be charged the broadcast rate, even though it is a direct result of self promoting

Once_Again says: October 22, 2017

Here’s copy for “free” Free (no fee) sales will include sales made to buyers whose last arrival to Bonanza came via your booth referral link. Whether the buyer arrived from your own email campaigns, Customer Marketing Campaigns, or elsewhere on the web, you’ll pay Bonanza nothing when you (cont)

Once_Again says: October 22, 2017

(cont) drive customers to your booth. Your individual Broadcaster settings do not impact this rule. Free is free.

Once_Again says: October 22, 2017

To me, this means if the “referral” code is not included in your Tweets, any sale made due to th

Once_Again says: October 22, 2017

the Tweet or Pinetrest or Facebook without this code added to the address, will be charged as direct link, thus not free

Once_Again says: October 22, 2017

Or am I TOTALLY confused and should go have a glass of wine an not worry about it LOL

EmpressDepot says: October 22, 2017

Probably have a glass of wine and not worry about it. Will read the link and read back through both your comments and may decide I need to just drink a glass of wine, too.

EmpressDepot says: October 22, 2017

Maybe we will not need the wine lol.

ccmom says: October 22, 2017

again…a sale made by direct link….is charged the 3.5% fee…that is the fee for simply using the site, the tools etc…referral link is free, and advertising is adjusted according to the number of AD links that were clicked…

ccmom says: October 22, 2017

a sale from a direct link…is NOT charge the advertising rate, ie, 9, 13, 19, 30%..it is charged the “using the site” rate of 3.5%…everytime they make changes they muddy the waters..what ever happened to KISS…keep it simple

Once_Again says: October 22, 2017

Linda, It is charged the broadcast rate. I have 5 sales to prove it, and here is the copy from the link provided a above

Once_Again says: October 22, 2017
• Broadcaster rate (variable) sales will be defined as “the stuff not listed above.” This includes traffic from Google Shopping, our affiliate network (Wish, Ebates, etc), direct traffic, paid advertising, and other referral traffic that isn’t captured in the above tiers. Higher ad rates u
Once_Again says: October 22, 2017

Higher ad rates allow us to bid more to get visibility for your items

Once_Again says: October 22, 2017

See where it says “direct traffic” - I’m sorry if I’m being thick headed and just not grasping this

abigdogmom says: October 22, 2017

I am also very confused. Does this mean that you have to change your booth link manually everytime you tweet, etc?

Once_Again says: October 22, 2017

I think so, that is / was the reason for this thread. If so, I will have to find someonelse to promote for me as the person who does it now won’t add the reference id

ccmom says: October 22, 2017
  1. Traffic from social media (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest) will also be charged at the base rate…direct link from some other souce…place by bonanza or affiliates…will be charged advertising rate
ccmom says: October 22, 2017

direct traffic..bonz puts an ad on the website that goes straight to your item..directly…bonanza puts an ad on a website that says…“visit bonanza.com” and the buyer finds your booth and makes a purchase..you are charged because the buyer to your booth through an ad..though not a direct link

ccmom says: October 22, 2017

Confusing direct links from sellers, or social, with direct traffic..where the buyer comes to your booth through an advertised link

Thanks for the link Once Again.

@cindy

1.) It looks like they may have changed the tier rates to be called Broadcaster rates, is that right basically more or less. Because I am not seeing that we will be charged anything extra if someone were to come make a sale to our booth from one of Bonanza’s advertising initiatives, which now includes more than just Google shopping.

2.) And the referral code that we receive specific to our own [URL removed] If we use that referral link on our own social media, blog, and elsewhere and someone clicks on it, comes to our booth to make the purchase, we will not be charged an FVF at all?

3.) And we will still always be charged 3.5% basic rate FVF when we make a sale for the following two [URL removed]

*If we do not have our booth opted into have Bonanza promote our listings on Google shopping.
*And, if a shopper does not get to our booth and make a purchase via our own specific referral code.

Maybe my wording is not exactly right but this is how I am understanding it.

Thanks,

Sharon

going to switch to another ID so I can make a new posting…be back later as CindyBear

ccmom says: October 22, 2017

1) the ad rates are still listed under advertising in Booth Settings, 2) correct 3) correct..that was always our fee except in the very beginnning when it was, $.50, $1.00 $3.00 $5.00 depending on amount of sale

ccmom says: October 22, 2017

then only thing about this referral link..if everyone uses it in their social media, there will be no charges…is this a step towards starting to have listing fees, to make up for loss of fvf that they collected from direct links???

EmpressDepot says: October 22, 2017

a step towards starting to have listings fees…………. oh God I hope not. I’ll be done and open a store on eBay….unless traffic and sales significantly rose due to their extra advertising efforts but I just would not see how it could rise that much. I’d rather pay a small booth fee in place…

EmpressDepot says: October 22, 2017

of a free booth than listing fees if this were to happen.

let’s do short and simple

I put the link (includes social media) or from organic search engines…and sale results…I am charged 3.5% (basic rate)

Bonanza puts the link whether directly to my item (as in google shopping or and ad) or to site itself (bonanza.com)..and a sale results…I get charged up to my advertising level I chose (broadcaster rates)….

Like this one…which links to bonz and to someone’s items

![URL removed]

Referral link…is a coded link that is integrated into web pages..you know all those little ads on people’s pages…then I am not charged….any fee at all

[URL removed] the referral link as far as I can tell cannot be integrated into a tweet…or other social media..but then I am no expert…I already tried

However, my question is….is a widget, since it uses code to place on websites treated, as a referral link…free, direct links place by seller…3.5% or something else…
