Sales?

Hello all.

Is it an unusually slow summer this year with sales?

Still building my booth up. I plan to have between 300 to 400 listings max. I used to be a busier seller online but life off line got really busy in the last 6 months due to starting up a business. So now I’m mainly a hobby seller, still would like to have more sales though here and there. In the past summers have been slow, but is it an unusually slow summer this year than others in your honest opinion?

If so, how are you deciding to take advantage of this slow time when it comes to your online business?

Thanks,

Sharon

Hello Sharon – yes it’s slow everywhere – I have a b&m – 3 online selling venues – doesn’t matter – the economy sucks. I’m remodeling my warehouse and revamping my own website – staying busy. I think I might head north for a month. Since things are so slow why not take advantage of it and visit friends and take a rest? How about hit a few outdoor venues? Craft fairs – swap meets – antique shows. I personally don’t think throwing money at advertisers is worth it right now so I’m saving my budget $’s for the fall months.

Thank you, Dazzle. Your post has been helpful. It is sad to see that the internet is slow right now. I guess I should be used to it but each summer when it gets here the slowness seems new all over again. It sounds like it has been unusually slow though and I mean that anywhere like you say.

Yes, go ahead and take a rest lol. You deserve it. I will have to take advantage of this time by fine tuning things and listing I guess and “relax” about it

Well, at least it’s not just me. I haven’t had a sale since March. I get a bunch of views, spent some money on Turbo Traffic and still nothing! Hope it picks up for all of us soon.

Yes, I just recently tried turbo traffic. I FINALLY got a sale today. Feeling a little more inspired now. I hope the next one comes sooner.

Sharon, it does seem slow, both here and on Etsy.

I cannot find any of my Bonanza items in Google Shopping, where previously, over 90% of them showed up. I just dropped my commission to 9%, since the 19% level wasn’t helping. Not only was I not getting sales, my items weren’t even showing up in GS.

I looked again today, at several items. Not one showed in GS, even in cases where there were NO OTHERS listed, or only one, from another site.

None of the results I pull up on GS show ANY Bonanza items!

Bookbin, you are right. It is looking pretty rough in Google Shopping. I searched for 5 of your listings trying to use short keyword phrases from your titles that were not in order. For your retro barbie pattern 5785, I first started out just using these keywords but had to expand to include retro..

EmpressDepot says: June 11, 2017

and then Google shopping had the listing hidden under one photo with 20 other sellers. Montreal pullover nhl did not come up. BUT your patons knitting pattern 522 came up as did the spiderman pajamas flannel and the Canada map lot and the patons 522 knitting pattern….

I used the keywords “spiderman pajamas flannel 3” without including the word child and it came up real good. So, 2 out of 5 came up nicely, 2 out of 5 was sort of buried using more keywords and 1 did not come up. In a nutshell, Google is making it hard, don’t you think?

I miss the days when I was not buried under someone else’s photo, especially a photo that does not represent mine very well.

My listings cannot be found in a Google search for the past year now ,no matter what advertising level used (& I used them all). Dropped the advertising level completely as no sales for a year. I’m quite done with this site, closing account & moving on.

I have all but left Etsy its so dead there, 3 views in 7 days? umm no. and ebay forgot it. They are terrible with all their glitches and new rules, and if you do get someone watching, they want you to lower your prices. I’ll stick with Bonanza, its slow, but so are all the other places

mrdutch1001 says: June 12, 2017

I’m now gone from Etsy, soon to be gone from Bonanza…will be sticking with what I know & what I do best = eBay where I have been successfully selling for 16 years

I found that setting up a Facebook page just for your booth with a link to take people to your Bonz booth helps get people looking.

I’d love to see a workshop thread on Bonanza for sellers like under the game forum, specifically a workshop to help work our booths up to par, sharing and giving advice. Etsy sort of has workshop topics….one is an SEO and then there are a whole bunch of others.

I’d like to ask a question here about how well I am showing up in Google shopping (if someone could take a look, please, and tell me). I look myself but having a few more eyeballs would be nice.

Your Fire fighter doll did not come up, the Vogue maternity pattern was number one, and the vintage avon righ was on the first page!

Thank you, Calhan. I went ahead and did the same for you. Your men’s bamboo analog wristwatch did not come up. Your tahoe gear ozark tent came up first. Your remote control flying ball saucer came up first page, 2nd listing (seems to be a rarer piece as only 2 came up).

I searched for the food dehydrator 5 tray but could not find it….it might be there but there were quite a few

Thanks Empress, I appreciate it.
