Greetings,
I sold multiple jeans to a customer. I used the USPS website to calculate the lowest exact shipping cost for the 3.8 lb box ($16.40 for USPS Gnd).
I tried to add this exact shipping cost to the Invoice, but received a Bonanza error that stated I could only charge 30% of the order cost or $15 for shipping. This meant I had to cover the remaining $1.40 shipping cost myself.
Since I only charge exact USPS shipping cost on my orders (no added fees), does this Bonanza policy mean that I will now be forced to absorb the additional USPS costs on heavier items, such as these jeans? Am I misunderstanding this error message, perhaps?

There is a limit when you are adding shipping to invoices. This is to prevent overcharging. We do understand that there are situations where you need to charge more than that. On the page to edit the invoice there is an option to Add a Cost Adjustment. Go ahead and add the $15 in shipping and then the additional amount using the Cost Adjustment.
That option can also be limited and in those cases it is best to create a new invoice. You can do this by going to Selling > Recent Sales > Create Invoice. You will need to deny the original offer in order to add that item to the invoice, but you can add any shipping cost and send it directly to the buyer.

Have you emailed support@bonanza.com?
It seems you have it set up to approve and adjust invoices, looking at the help section I didn’t see any mention of shipping limits. But I know they wanted to make sure sellers didn’t overcharge their buyers as happened on Ebay in the early days, so they could have a limit in place and I just didn’t look in the right place.
As a buyer I always wanted to know what the total cost was including shipping before I bought or committed to buying, so as a seller I avoided the the option of invoicing after the item(s) sold and I have never trusted calculated shipping options.
I found setting my shipping discount to subtract a set dollar amount from additional items on the same order works well enough for me.
You can also set it to add a set amount or percentage to each order, but with the increases in postage costs every year I didn’t want the extra work in figuring out what worked best each year.
It will be interesting to find out if their are limits in place that are not readily visible to sellers, so if support does answer you, please let us know.

The USPS.com site only offers you full retail list for labels. The Paypal labels(and perhaps Bonanza though I don’t use it) offers Commercial pricing. Your price would be $15.60 for Priority Parcel and $15.55 for Ground. That eliminates part of your shortfall.

There’s no reason to withhold cheaper shipping labels here. If Ebay can give discounts why can’t Bonanza? Oh yes, that’s an extra fee for a higher level but I’m really sick of being charged on so many levels when this was advertised as being cheaper than ebay. I’m very new but getting very disgusted rather quickly. 24 days active and 23 views while I was set to 9%. I’ve reset it to 19% and we’ll see what happens but their method of charging is going to make them just as expensive as putting things in physical shops on consignment.
