The end of google wallet

Since this question affects many of us, I thought I’d post it here rather than just emailing support.

We know that Google Wallet will be no more come November. I rarely get paid via Google Wallet and then had one buyer in May and one in June who used it. I’m inclined to keep it there as an option until then end. However, what will happen, Bonanza-wise, on November 20, 2013, when Google Wallet shuts down? Will Bonanza globally delete that payment option for those of us who have it, or will this be something we need to take care of ourselves?

Bonanza will remove that payment company from the site. It will no longer show up as an option.

So do I understand no Google Wallet AND no Google Checkout?

They are technically the same…google wallet is just the newer name for google checkout

That’s what I was hoping to hear, Mark. Thank you.

Here is a timeline on how to handle “last” orders received by Google wallet. It is wise to end Google Wallet prior to November 20th based on the dates that have been provided in this link.

According to the notice from Google posted [URL removed]

[URL removed]

“*Merchants selling digital goods may transition to Google Wallet for digital goods
*Merchants selling through Google-hosted marketplaces (e.g. Google Play) will be unaffected
*Merchants selling physical goods will need to switch to third-party alternatives”

Google Checkout has been the means that Google has had for sellers to accept payments for physical goods.

If you sell digital goods, you will still be able to accept payments through Google Wallet (as opposed to Google Checkout).

If you are a buyer using Google Wallet to make payments, you will still be able to do so.

Just to muddy the waters a bit I found this statement on the link suggested by TipTop-

The sunset of Google Checkout will have no affect on your Google Wallet buyer account. Feel free to continue making purchases using Google Wallet on marketplaces such as Google Play or anywhere that you see the “Buy with Wallet” button.

If there is no Google Wallet how can that work? And if there is Google Wallet why can’t we use it? We have had so little paid with Google Wallet that we’re not upset that it is not going to be available any longer but sure feel bad for people who have had a lot of history with it!

I think it is Google’s goal in life to keep things “stirred up” all the time. Too bad they have become such a necessity of life :-(

As Google Wallet IS my only payment option (as Paypal will never be used by me) I guess this ends my business here or anywhere else. Too bad.

Have you considered Checkout by Amazon. Approximately 1/3 of my buyers are using CBA over PP. Google wallet was popular among my buyers before we were given access to CBA. Subsequent to that, not so much. I honestly won’t miss it come November.
