Upc codes, are they necessary?

are they necessary? I’m getting views without them. But it says that google wont advertise them without UPC codes. So do I need to re-edit all my listings and put UPC codes in or will it be ok without them? Whats the diff between a UPC, MPN and EAN?

If you have handmade/custom listings, then UPCs are not necessary. But if you are selling products manufactured by a company like Hallmark, for example, then you would have to include a UPC if the product is new. But if someone has the UPC, whether it be new or used, then it is best to use the UPC.

For handmade/custom you will not have a UPC though.

What Bonanza will automatically do is apply the attribute_identifier [URL removed] attribute so that Google shopping will know your item does not have a UPC.

BUT, I personally think as a back up that it is a good idea to put something in your titles to indicate your decal is custom.

You can see that this attribute has been applied to your listing by going to the Selling on your upper left corner of this page and then click Batch Edit Items from the dropdown. Then once on that page, click on Search Optimize and you’ll see that it has been applied to your listings.

Every so often Google shopping will still disapprove a listing even if Bonanza uses the identified exists false attribute………..that’s just Google shopping being moody.

You [URL removed] What’s the difference between a UPC, MPN and EAN?

Here’s a Google link that can help you with this. They explain it better than I can.

thanks for your reply, sadly i asked the question before i caught bonanza swiping 25% of my sales total. ive closed my store. ive been here 8 days and brought in $200 in sales plus the added traffic. no way im paying 25% ebay is better and charges less. but thanks again though

You are welcome. I saw your post about it….but I really would strongly recommend emailing Bonanza about this. Like said, I’m sure there is a logical explanation. You have shown that you will do well here…see what Bonz has to say.

I would You close Your booth, instead of reserving listings until You ask & receive answer from B.? The only way B. would charge You 25%, if You mistakenly chosen 30% advertising level. Or You could sign up, without realising it, for some other paid service and assumed the collected money are fees.

  • I=Why… Oh, this box is so difficult to write straight in [URL removed] Dear B. technical team, would You consider at least to make it possible for us to adjust it during writing, so we can easily see all our text before submitting? Thank You.

Oh, I see now that You still have a store, bravo! I hope, Your problem will be resolved soon.

All the drones at google were born AFTER UPC codes came into fashion (1974 and 1963 for 5 digit ZIP codes) so as far as they are concerned, EVERYTHING has a UPC because they don’t know any different. Many of my items are PRE-UPC but 2 sites that I try to search to find similar later versions of the same product to find a UPC (to satisfy Google madness) might be of some help. They are….

www.upcitemdb.com/upc and www.barcodelookup.com/

Of course, there still will be some not founds on either of these sites.
