Update sku with csv file

I have downloaded the csv file from Bonanza. I have figured out the SYLK file issue because the first column is “ID” instead of “id” but my description column exports as a bunch of html gibberish that skews the export file in excel. Since description is a required column (why?) in order to update inventory, how do I add just the sku column without having to delete and re-import inventory?
To explain why I need this, I have a trait called “Inventory ID” that I used for the unique identifier in my point of sale system which does not download on the orders csv file but the trait “sku” does. So I want to transfer the “Inventory ID” trait value to “sku” value. It seems a simple task and I have used many different csv files on different platforms but for some reason I can not figure out Bonanza.com to upload “sku” data to the respective listings
Any ideas?

Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear about the trouble with your CSV file. The data entered in your “id” column is treated as your item SKU. To upload the SKU, you can use either “sku” or “id” (all lowercase) on your CSV file. Here is more information on how to format and upload a CSV file on [URL removed]

The current “id” is not the same as my “sku” but I was trying to add “sku” to the listing since it is one of the columns that are available for order export. I did contact support with details though, thank you for your reply
