What happened to standard post calculated?

I was planning on listing a heavy casserole dish and I always give the option of Standard Post (for those 4 pounds and over) for calculated (because of living on the West Coast)…but it isn’t THERE anymore. When did that disappear?

This is not helpful as it is $22.76 for 9 pounds Parcel Post to east coast from my location on the west coast. It is 51.60 for Priority mail. That is a difference of $28.74. You can take Parcel Post packages to the Post Office & mail for same price as online.

Unfortunately, the PO no longer offers Standard Post for zones 1-4 (since the priority costs are about the same) and are not sending the API callback to sites anymore…though shipping sites (like paypal) still offer it..do not know how they are handling it

I do not know how bonanza will be handling it and you may have to ask them

If you go to the USPS site and enter a zip that is close your location, you will see that Standard is not an option, but if enter a zip that is further away (zone 5-9) then it will be an option

Thanks ccmom, I don’t know how you found that but that was very helpful. Makes me start looking at flat rate shipping again. It’s just that it isn’t as fair to those close to me on the West Coast. Oh, well, thanks again.

talk alot to the clerks at my PO…also small blurb on Standard post page about only available for zones 5-9

Sadly I am afraid that I have more knowledge about this sort of thing than they do in my little town PO. Scarey!

Although I have to say that this year it has been much more difficult (and infuriating) trying to find information online.

yes it has…even though I do not use them, stamps.com seems to be up on news most of the time..but finding info on this year’s changes has been difficult

Also don’t know what to pick if the package is over 12" on any one side. That’s where Standard would come in handy. Now I guess I am pushed into UPS or Fed Ex.

So does anybody know where I can find a map of the shipping zones online?

I believe all the probs & changes w/ the USPS is a direct attempt at thwarting online sales. First, parcel changed to standard. Now half of standard is eliminated because it costs “about” as much as Priority. Yeah, if that wasn’t done by design. Next, all of standard will be gone, then they’ll be getting rid of media mail. IMO, this is to convince the really small sellers that it’s not worth it anymore and to force those who remain to pay top $ for their priority svc.

Since the popularization of online mom & pop sales, there has been relentless advertising and pushes from all directions to use “priority”. I think they are through with trying to persuade us to use it and are now in the process of forcing us to use it.

I have to agree with you and I think we all saw the writing on the wall when priority nearest to us was only cents more than parcel/standard post. But what are we to do? Anyway, if you just type in USPS shipping zones into search it will bring up all sorts of maps.

Most of my items are “free shipping”…..should I just increase the prices by $1.00 and hope that will cover the increase? Anyone have a chart showing rates, weight and zones?

“standard [URL removed] ( the old parcel post ) should be available when you fill out your bonanza sell form but it isn’t there anymore , we need an answer from
bonanza – WHERE DID IT GO ??? is it coming back ? FIX IT !!!
