Why can i not delete my promotion post ?

The “Edit” and “Delete” buttons are there and I CAN edit my posts. However, if I try to delete them, I am prompted to confirm that I want to delete the post and when I confirm, I receive an error message stating that the message cannot be destroyed.

A long time ago, in a bonanzle farway….we could edit, delete and even post in others promotional threads (for group events…we used several, block parties, fairs…etc)..

There was abuse of the system, those messing with others posts, people using several different ID’s to keep certain posts at the top of the forum…so the options to delete certain things/cross promote, etc has been removed. Just like our general forum was replaced with the community question forum…which does not allow changes, deletions, and posting limitations…

The best you can do is let the promotional thread ‘die’ by not posting anything new to it and bringing it up to the top of the forums…

If you offered back then some big discount and you can’t affort it any longer, maybe you can add a note in your booth that starting with date… all previous promotions expired (just in case somebody would like to use this old post).

And in your future promotion posts remember to mention the duration of your offer.

“… those messing with others posts, people using several different ID’s to keep certain posts at the top of the forum… so the options to delete certain things/cross promote, etc has been removed.”

The above is understandable, but why though the option to delete only your own and expired promotion post has been removed along?

I suppose, those old posts can stay online, but it would be good to have at least the possibility to mark them as ‘expired’, just in case somebody didn’t write the expiry date.

Thank you for your replies ArtistsUnion and CCmom. You both told me what I needed to know, which is, even though the “Delete” button still exists, the functionality of it does not. I just wanted to be sure that it wasn’t something I was doing / not doing that was preventing me from deleting the thread.

To Answer Brilliantly

Remember these tips:

  • Use links to other sources to support your opinions
  • Use examples where possible
  • Put yourself in the inquirers shoes: what extra info would be helpful?

Should I post a comment or an answer?

You can only post one answer, so make it count. Maybe your reply is more fitting as a comment instead?

Post an answer for:

  • Replies that directly and specifically answer the original question

Post a comment for:

  • "Thanks," "Me too," "I agree," or "Works for me" types of replies
  • When you would like the original poster to provide more details
  • When you have more to add to someone else's question or answer
