How long to wait till i escalate dispute in paypal

How long would you wait till you escalated a dispute to paypal? I sold something on bonanza and on 10/6, on 10/16 I receive a message from paypal that the buyer wants to return the item due to it not fitting, she said the inside tag was different than the outside tag, she sent me a pic i said ok (even tho i know i checked it and they were both the same, but oh well) So i gave her my address to send it back on 10/20 in the A.M…..so far nothing. I sent another message to her on the 26th asking if she sent the pkg. out with tracking yet, and no answer….should i still wait? Or should I escalate it to pp since paypal is holding the money for it.

I am not sure of the time limit that a buyer has when returning an item, but the following information (pertaining to a buyer) is from PayPal’s [URL removed]

• Comply with PayPal’s shipping requests in a timely manner

For Significantly Not as Described (SNAD) Claims, PayPal may require you to ship the item back to the seller – or to PayPal – or to a third party at your expense, and to provide proof of delivery.

For transactions that total less than $250, proof of delivery is confirmation that can be viewed online and [URL removed] the delivery address, delivery date, and the URL to the shipping company’s web site if you’ve selected “Other” in the shipping drop down menu. For transactions that total $250 or more, you must get signature confirmation of delivery.

I would give the buyer a couple more days before escalating a claim. But whatever you do, do NOT refund the buyer until you have your merchandise back. Two possible scenarios come to [URL removed]

1) buyer is hoping you refund prior to a return of merchandise, or
2) buyer has changed her mind about returning.

Thank you Tomwayne, yes, both of those scenarios came to my mind also. and thanks for the info. yes, i will wait a few days. Someone on another site mentioned that paypal allows 21 days for holding a sellers money, if no activity has taken place with the buyer, pp will refund. i’ll just wait and see
