Item commission seems high

In reviewing my latest invoice, I notice that one of the items I sold has been charged at 12+ percent fees. I have my Google commission set at “standard” 9 percent. Am I missing something? All the other items I sold were down around 3 – 3.5 percent fees. Thanks, IrvR.

It is possible that you were charged the minimum fee of 50 cents based on the sale price. If that happened, then it is entirely possible that the fee charged would be higher than the maximum rate of 9% that you set, and may have calculated out to the 12+% you were charged.

For instance, if you sell a $4 item, you will be charged a 50 cent fee, which equates to 12.5% of the sale price.

This was a $19.95 item and the fee was $2.46 a bit more than the minimum $.50 fee. I just don’t understand how it got to be that high. Thanks for the reply. IrvR.

Did you have shipping charges in excess of $10. If so, the excess would be included when calculating fees. If not, you should share your information with Bonanza Support to see why 12+% was charged instead of the maximum 9% you said you set your advertising to.

The actual shipping cost for the item was $12. Are you saying that we get charged fees on shipping over $10? If this is true, fees should have only been $.98 on $21? Thanks.

oops, typo, meant $1.98.

Yes, you get charged fees on any shipping charges that exceed $10. So, you were actually charged fees on a total of $21.95 ($19.95 item + $2.00 excess shipping). The $2.46 fee that was charged would work out to 11.2% of the charged sale.

If they had charged the maximum 9 % the fee should have been under $1.98. I still don’t see how they got to 12+ percent. I realize the actual amount of money is small, but I really would like to understand the formula going forward. Thanks to all for your replies.
