Okay, I can understand the rating for Email Response Speed and Handling Speed. I as a seller have control over those two options. I have no control over how fast the post office gets the package there. I don’t quite get the logic of this.

Was not happy when I saw that either. We have no control over the post office, and sellers that are on one coast or the other are at a disadvantage.

Dang. Something new (again!). My advice is if you’re shipping by Media Mail, don’t mark the package shipped. Just send the buyer the tracking info in an e-mail.
[URL removed] Mark it as shipped, but don’t enter the tracking number.

Sorry, but not really fair. Bad sellers most likely will not mark items shipped, so they will not have a rating. Guess it’s time to stop marking items shipped or adding the tracking number. Things like Holidays, bad weather and buyer location can effect the rating which has nothing to do with the seller. The more bells and whistles they add to the site, the more my sales drop. Last year was awesome this year not.

Well we got hit by tornado Tues night…zipped right though hospital and post office…don’t think much was scanned yesterday….anyway, most of the time my items make it in 2-4..usually 2-3 days….but this metric was introduced right when I just entered tracking for a large UPS ground package…..coast to coast….so, this will be based on my arbitrary once in a while UPS ground coast to coast package and not my 4 years of work…..
Want to introduce something….fine and yes buyer has right to some expectation….but a little warning and maybe consideration for past quality of service….

Hi,
I deleted my original response… Sorry, I don’t know the answer.

I would love to know the metrics in determining the rating. I have a quick rating, not a zippy, and the delivery times reflected in my shipping metrics shows all delivery’s were in 2 days! The customers received the package in two days from USPS. My assumption is that in order to receive a zippy rating a seller must ship overnight and send the day purchased.
Quick does not sound bad, yet posted under other metrics that are Zippy could cause a buyer to think the seller is a slow shipper.
EDIT- this is printed by my rating of “quick”
“Quick (The average buyer receives their items in 2 – 5 days after purchase)”
So the delivery rating, the time it takes USPS or UPS to deliver your package is based on the day SOLD, not sent. To get a zippy rating on delivery you would have to overnight the day the item sold.

Can you imagine if the package gets lost in the mail. I’m marking sold listings as shipped but I’m no longer including the tracking number when marked as shipped. I accept Paypal and buyers can still see their tracking number when logged into Paypal. Will also include info in my emails to buyers that the tracking number can be seen for their package when logging into their Paypal account. I noticed this new addition about 3 days ago. I think a lot of sellers do not include the tracking number when marking as shipped because many sellers do not yet have this rating, at least this is what I noticed the other day.
I feel like I now have 3 different Delivery times posted on my listings…one is the Get it by date for listings that I have calculated shipping on, now this Delivery time date and for the shipping info I include in my descriptions which is the correct one. Three pieces of Delivery info attached to my listings is too many but I’m so glad I keep this info in my descriptions.
On the bright side is that I had my hubby look at one of my listings and he did not realize that he could click on the Email response, Handling and Delivery ratings.

I am NOT happy with this rating. It states (The average buyer receives their items in 5 – 10 days after purchase) My buyer received a book in 7 days and I get a MEDIUM rating. This rating needs to be changed or deleted. It is not a true reflection of the order shipping.

Also not thrilled about this new metric. I, too, have a quick rating. Only one transaction so far, but it was a book and received within 5 days cross country. Sheesh.
If item must be received within 48 hours of purchase, it must be shipped immediately and overnight. I ship every morning. Most of my sales are in the evenings so my handling time is often 12 hours or less. I also work fulltime. And I shouldn’t be rated on shipping when I have several items I know have been delivered, but the tracking is incomplete. For the most part, my buyers can select the shipping method they choose to pay for. Why should I be “penalized” when my buyers choose parcel post rather than express mail? I would, too.

The rating systems need major changes done. Really don’t see the need. The feedback % should be sufficient for any buyer.

All I know is my daughter has a cat named Zippy and he is very fast. LOL As for the ratings, I would just send the tracking # to the buyer also and put in shipped later. Post Office can be very slow sometimes…

I’m not exactly sure, but I think the speed rating for shipping is based on the amount of time that passes from the sale date, until the item is marked as shipped or you enter the tracking number.
While back I had an item I failed to mark shipped in Bonanza. Months later I marked it as shipped and it changed my shipping time from zippy to average.
Contacted support and they were able to correct the problem.
Hope this helps!

I hope when they rate Canadian sellers that the time that an item sits in US customs is considered. I had one item get to the US in one day but sat in customs for 11 days – that is something I have absolutely no control over.

I wrote to support about the necessity of Delivery Speed and its prominent position on the site and strongly requested that they reconsider this idea. It was my concern, and still is, that buyers would determine that the seller was at fault when rated less than “zippy” on delivery speed.
Angelica Rose from Bonanza support replied with the [URL removed] "Thank you for your email. The shipping speed is not to call any seller “good” or “bad”, it is simply to give your buyers an accurate expectation of how long it will take to receive an item. This is a calculated factual based rating so it is fair to all sellers. Giving buyers a reasonable expectation of delivery time is beneficial for all sellers as this will also keep buyers from opening disputes and tarnishing a sellers account or reputation by being impatient due to a lack of understanding of how long something may actually take to arrive. We see many buyers open cases for items not received only to receive it shortly there after. Many times the damage is already done by then so we want to avoid that. I hope that helps clarify."

We have a “zippy” rating, at least we did when we put the booth on vacation until after Thanksgiving. It was my understanding that this was based on email response to the buyer and actual time until “marked as shipped.” We don’t ever ship overnight, nor anything extraordinary. We email asap after purchase to let them know we received the order and when it will ship (usually within 24 hours unless on weekend). We mark it shipped when it goes out and I send them pertinent information, tracking and shipping method, by a follow-up email. We do try to always ship priority or regional priority.

I agree 100%. I recently shipped a package to Singapore and I have no idea of when or if it will get there. It’s out of my control. I shipped within 12 hours of the purchase too. So am I going to get dinged on this too? It will effect sales – not fair at all. I also respond to questions within minutes most of the time, and maybe an hour or two if I happen to be out of the house. Yet I’m a medium. Go figure.
