Borage, with its vibrant, star-shaped blue flowers, is not just a visual delight in your garden but also a culinary and medicinal marvel. Traditionally used in Mediterranean cuisine, the cucumber-like flavor of its leaves and flowers adds a unique twist to salads, drinks, and desserts. Besides its many uses, Borage is also a favorite among pollinators, serving as a magnet for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Growing borage in your garden is a fun way to add color, flavor, and an element of surprise to your outdoor spaces and your kitchen.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date or sow directly outdoors after the risk of frost has passed. Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep and keep the soil consistently moist until germination occurs, which typically takes 7-14 days. Transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost, spacing them 12-18 inches apart. Blue Borage prefers full sun to partial shade and well-draining, moderately fertile soil.
