This is a very old serving knife, much used and the stamping is hard to read.  But I believe it says “H.G. Long and Co”.  The stamped “Sheffield” is easier to read.  And it appears to have a bone handle which has a crack lengthwise I suspect from aging and use.

I don’t know exactly how old it is, but one website source indicated the “H.G. Long & Co” with “Sheffield” dates between c 1846 and c 1894 and that it is England, U.K.

This piece is obviously old and worn, but I understand that collectors have their personal ways of cleaning and how they want the piece to look.  Therefore, I did not clean or polish it.

This piece came from a deceased relative’s collection.
