Item description
VERY RARE circa 1910 VINTAGE STERLING SILVER GATED-TOP BAG.
Bag is in excellent condition. Stamped sterling silver on the inner cap, the purse is known as a Gate-top, Beggars Bag, or Accordion Cap Style bag, because once the cap is lifted, the "accordion" style hinge expands in order to open. On the cap is a wonderful Faceted Amethyst Stone, just the perfect accent to catch one's eye.
If you are a true steampunk enthusiast this is a must have to complete the final touch to a great look.
Most of these bags are not made of Sterling Silver and with such a great closer. Of all the bags of this style I have to say this one is a winner and just the greatest coup for those collectors who need that special bag to top off their collection.
This is an original Estate piece that has been my collection for over 35 years.
