Item description
This Secret of the Flowers medium sized dresser jar is one of the exceptional Art Nouveau patterns that Unger became famous for. The sterling lid is in excellent plus condition with outstanding pattern definition. There are no dents in that wonderful poofy pattern. Note the superb curved/rounded definition to her hair the flowers leaves. The extra fine detail work in her face, hands flower stamens is still well defined. The sterling has no rips, chomps , deep scratches or repairs. I found twolight indentations in the lid. The rim is well rounded. I held the lid to light found no holes. The center of the lid has very swirling, artistic, Art Nouveau presentation of "K??". On the side rim you will find the marks of: "Unger hallmark, Sterling 925 Fine, Unger hallmark" with ?Pat June 23, 1903?
The cut glass jar is the standard zipper cut with star bottom that Unger loved to use. You can see on my last photo an example of a close to perfect zipper cut pattern. Zipper cut is made up of a multitude of what I call pleats. Two pleats would have the zipper cut rim then the next two pleats would have an un-patterned facet rim. This alternating vertical pattern goes entirely around the exterior body of the jar.
On this jar the glass has no cracks or spotty/cloudy areas of any residue. None of the pleat rims are broken off/missing. As is very often found in the zipper pattern all pleats do have some extent of small chips /or nicks /or rough rims.
The lid fits well and has no drag in removal will not fall off when jar is held upside. The jar stands 3 1/8" tall x approx 3 5/8" at widest point of glass bulge.
This is a real find with adding to your collection.
