Stanley # 30 Brass and Wood Level. and 38 similar items

This is a 26 inch long wood level . Brass ends, brass vial covers. The vials all have liquid/bubble and are adjustable. The horizontal vial is out of adjustment and may not be rectified as the screws appear to be locked in place. The hardwood is not cracked but is abraded and scratched typical for the age and use of the level. The level is stained, horizontal close grain and heavy suggesting walnut or cherry wood. The number 30 is stamped into the wood in front of the top brass cover plate protecting the horizontal level vial. Examine the pictures closely as they are provided as part of the description The top bubble brass reads: STANLEY RULE LEVEL CO NEW BRITIAN CONN USA 6-2-91 – 6-23-96 Primary brass bubble cover ( vertical and horizontal) have markings that read “patented Mar 25 90 adjustible.” John Walter's book, Antique Collectible Stanley Tools Guide to Identity Value The #30 levels were manufactured under different patents from 1859-1942. These numbers link it to a manufacture date of 1895 to 1905 * or a couple of years later. * Manufactures typically overproduce parts and so a patent date that has expired would result in some levels with that patent date being produced for after the date.
