The Strike is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dryers. It is a metal latch that secures the dryer door safely closed during operation. The strike catches and holds the dryer door latch to form a tight protective seal.
Causes of a bad strike can include wear from repetitive opening and closing of the dryer door as well as impacts or bending over time.
Symptoms of a bad strike include:
Loose or unsecured door that does not feel firmly shut
Gasket leakage allowing heated air to escape
Challenges fully closing and latching the dryer door
Noisy rattling when dryer is running
This is a genuine Whirlpool OEM replacement this part is also compatible with Maytag, Jenn-Air and some Kenmore models.

This little piece of plastic is amazingly important to the daily workings of my dryer. Hard to believe such a little thing could have such an important job. As much as it is used, you'd think it would be attached better. Ordering from manufacturer is expensive - ordering from this company is reasonable and the product is equal in strength to the original. It's not the handle that breaks, it's the tiny pieces that hold it to the door. That is the fault of manufacturer. Thankful I could order this handle here.
