The item is not marked by the maker (looks to be European in origin likely Italian or Spanish to me). The box is made of wood with leather covering, metal decorative mounts and a gold painted or gilded finish. The box has a lock (no key is present). The box is open and it has a red cloth lined interior. The box has a hinged top. The item is old. The item is from an estate liquidation (see photos). The box measures in total about 6 inches high, it s about 5.5 inches from the front edge to the back side and it is about 10 inches wide from side to side. The item some obvious finish losses and signs of wear from age and use (see photos and / or written description for the condition of this item).
