This is a nice antique bronze inkwell (see photos). The item is made of cast bronze with a gold gilt or polished finish (see photos). This is a double inkwell with two lidded sections for holding ink (no glass inserts are included). The item is signed by the maker with a hand engraved signature of E. F. Caldwell CO of New York, NY. The item has a nice classical Art Nouveau French style. This is an antique inkwell that has been professionally mounted as a lamp. The item has been drilled in the back for the rod of the lamp and mounted on a hand made similar metal base. The item is signed by the well known high quality Edward Caldwell Company out of New York so it is from the US and it is American in origin (see photos and decide the age, the origin and the maker). The measurements for the inkwell portion alone measures in total about 4 and 1/2 inches high, it is about 7 inches from the front edge to the back edge and it is about 1 foot 2 inches wide from side to side. The item has some wear from age and use (see photos and / or written description for the condition of this item). I would prefer to ship this item as the inkwell only without the lamp portion (for a smaller box and safer shipping).
