The plant you will receive is not in bloom. Nobile Dendrobium orchids are cherished for their abundance of fragrant, durable blooms that emerge from fall to spring. The flowers, measuring 2 to 3 inches, typically persist for 6 to 8 weeks. Once the blooming ceases, the stems can be pruned close to the canes. Over time, some older canes may turn woody, shrivel, and yellow. If there are at least three healthy canes, one of which has a full complement of leaves, the unsightly older growths can be removed from the base. It is not advisable to remove all leafless canes, as they serve as energy reserves and aid in the development of new growth at the front.
