The item is marked by the maker: BSCEP of Sheffield, England, on the underside of the base (see photos). I am unsure of the item's original intended use. It may be a wine bottle holder, an ice bucket, or a centerpiece basket (see photos). The item is old. The item is from an estate liquidation (see photos). This item measures in total about 9+ inches high, and it is about 10.4 inches wide at the widest point across the top. The item has an opening in the top and may have held an insert, which is no longer present. The opening measures about 5.75 (inside edge) to 6 inches wide.
