LEGIBLE LETTERING The story behind his sculpture is that is was taken from a Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem "The Courtship of Miles Standish,", Captain Standish is courting Priscilla Mullens, but lacks the courage to ask for her hand in marriage. So, he has asked his young and handsome friend, John Alden, to plead his case. to which Priscilla suggests that John instead speak for himself. Beginning the first Plymouth Rock's love triangle, part history, part embellishment folklore SADLY BOTH MILES STANDISH'S ARMS BROKE AND WAS REPAIRED BUT LOST A PIECE OR TWO OF HIS HAT ALONG THE WAY, THE ARM REPAIR IS GOOD AND HOLDING. ALSO, BEHIND THE PEWTER SPINNING WHEEL, THE COVERED TABLE HAD A CHIP ON THE CORNER WHICH WAS REPAIRED. THERE ARE STILL THOSE THAT CAN DO A MORE PROFESSIONAL REPAIR TO HIS HAT.
