WHISPER TOWN
By Judson [Pentecost] Philips.
New York: Dodd, Mead Company, (1960).
First edition.
A selection in the publisher's superior Red Badge Detective mystery series.
A standalone mystery where town members accuse a gifted teacher of the hit and run killing of three teens, and of evil influence on students.
A rather elusive hardcover vintage collectible.
Upper and lower spine edges and corner tips lightly rubbed, very mildly bumped to the upper shelf-edge, else tight, square, firm and very good in polished cream-gray linen boards with dark-blue Red Badge Detective insignia to the front cover and with dark blue insignia and titles to the spine, sewn binding; in an about very good rubbed dust jacket with mild soil stains and grey foxing dots, yellowing to the spine panel, a chip and creases to the upper rear panel, and chipping to the upper and lower spine ends; original printed $2.95 price still intact to the front inner flap.
The jacket will be placed in a clear, removable protective sleeve, after photographing for this entry.
