As a result, they do not have a high pile of wool and are often flatter and rougher than knotted wool rugs. Their construction is less intricate, making them generally much more affordable. Additionally, Kilim rugs are much lighter and can be laid out on either side. Handwoven Kilims originally come from what was once Persia and are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They typically feature simple, straight-line patterns, which are characteristic of their weaving technique. HANDSPUN WOOL This rug is made of hand spun sheep wool of the highest quality. Especially in Iran (former Persia), Afghanistan and Pakistan wool is still spun by hand before the actual knotting of the rug begins.
