Medusa is a being that is most well known from Greek Mythology, in which the goddess Athena cursed her for having intercourse with Poseidon in Athena's temple. Whether this encounter between Poseidon and Medusa was consentual or not is up for debate. She was cursed with locks of hair that turned to snakes, and a gaze that petrified, in the most literal sense, all who would look at her.
