The grafted tree is about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 ft tall. The highly aromatic white blooms appear nearly all year round. Michelia Alba is a more reliable bloomer. The flowers are highly fragrant and can be used in fragrance production. The fragrance is released in the early morning hours and lasts all day long, especially strong at night. It has creamy white blooms with 15-20 sepals and petals that are deliciously fragrant. This variety of Champaca is better suited for pot growing. It's grafted and will bloom much sooner compared to Yellow Champaca. These are flowers you don't have to "stick your nose in" as the scent exudes from the tree. This tree is popular in Asia, but relatively new to the American market. The white Michelia flower is also the city flower of Shanghai, China. Michelia is related to Magnolias, but the flowers are not as big and pretty. They are just as heavily scented, though. This is one of the best perfume trees for your landscape or indoor containers. The plant doesn't require pruning and has a naturally full and bushy shape.
