An account of the 1798 French invasion of Switzerland, the fall of the old Swiss Confederation, and the establishment of the Helvetic Republic. Mallet du Pan, writing from exile, frames the events as a tragic loss of Swiss liberty, driven by French aggression and internal Swiss failings. There are no advertisements in the rear and there are no signs of any having been removed. Instead, there is an extended page count and an appendix.
