UP FOR SALE: This is an exceptional Victorian Era Family Holy Bible published by George V. Jones Co., Boston, and entered according to Act of Congress in 1872. This is not a later mass-market version. This is an early deep panel sculpted leather edition produced at a time when these Bibles were prestige objects built for generational display and inheritance. The covers retain outstanding crisp detail and both original ornate silver toned clasps are still present and functional. Page edges remain bright gilt on all three sides. This Bible includes the full Old and New Testaments, extensive marginal references, steel engravings, color illuminated pages, and Smith?s Bible Dictionary. The family record pages are filled out beginning in the early 1880s (marriage recorded in 1883, children born beginning 1885), showing this volume was actually used by the original family in its time period and not a modern decorative piece. Also present inside the Bible is an original 1883 Chambers Encyclopaedia publisher circular from Geo. V. Jones, found tucked inside the pages and remaining with the volume. Binding remains tight overall with both boards attached. Only the thicker early family pages have loosened slightly at the inner edge ? extremely typical for this binding style and age ? but the remainder of the text block is secure, clean, and remarkably preserved with no mold odor. This example survives with its original Victorian presentation presence, historical content, ephemera, and structural integrity intact. A true Antiquarian 19th Century American Family Bible suitable for advanced collectors, genealogy historians, period interior displays, or museum-level study. AS IS AS SHOWN ?
