Item description

This is a vintage 1923 Regal Records shellac 78 of Billy Jones performing "So I Took the Fifty Thousand Dollars" and "Whose Izzy is He", record number 9604-A and B. The vintage record is described as a Tenor Solo with Orchestra Accompaniment. Jones was often paired with singer Ernest Hare where they sang pop and comedy duets. They were well known for their Happiness Boys Radio program in the 1920s and 1930s. This appears to be a rare record as I can find little reference to it. The record itself is copyrighted 1921 but the internet archive dates it to 1923. My family inherited it from an elderly couple more than 35 years ago. I suspect they had inherited it from their family. The original paper sleeve is missing and the record was found inside the period plain sleeve. The sleeve has many tears and bends but as its also likely 100 years old, that isn't surprising. I have no way of playing the Billy Jones record to see if it still works so it is sold as is. There are scratches and dirty marks on the 78.
