Item description

Internationsal Walking Day Brooch, I believe it is from Gronig, Saarland, Germany. The words “Blumen unserer Heimat” translate as “Flowers our Homeland”. The ‘5 Int. Wandertag’ indicates it is the 5th International Walking day. I believe the first walking day festival was held in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany in 1973. The flowers are attached at the center of the wheel. They are free enough that they can swing slightly upward if you move them. I am not sure they were designed to do this or if they are coming loose, but I thought I should mention it. In full stretched-out hanging this item is 4 inch tall. The wheel diameter is 2 inch. Solid, copper-color brooch.
