Item description

About the item: Graded NM/Mint! Signed by hand by Jerry Robinson, this trading card features the cover to Batman #1 and is JSA authenticated and certified through CGC with a card grade of 8. It is from the Batman Archives trading card set released by Rittenhouse in 2008. Fresh from CGC, it will be shipped with the utmost care. Of note, Robinson inked the cover to Batman #1 and also designed its background. For the interiors, he inked and provided some pencils for the Joker stories (there were two stores in this issue featuring the Clown Prince of Crime), specifically pencilling the Joker's playing card on the splash page). He also lettered the story. For both the Catwoman story and the Hugo Strange story, he inked and provided backgrounds as well as lettering them. About the artists: Bob Kane's first 'ghost' artist, Jerry Robinson (1922-2011) influenced the success and mythos of the Batman in ways that cannot be over-stated. Together with writer Bill Finger, he created both Robin and The Joker- key characters and concepts that remain central to depictions of the Dark Knight, and his renderings of the Batman and supporting characters influenced generations of artists that followed him.
