Item description

The item offered for sale is a door stop from the early 1900's. Back when you had to open windows to get any air flow in your home an occasional gust would come along and slam a door shut so people used sad irons to keep them open but if they could afford it they bought door stops. Also back at the time people built their own homes and they did a poor job of leveling so if you had a door that closed on its own you would use a sack of flour or a door stop to keep it from closing. This one is a bouquet of flowers in a basket and is made of iron. The paint is nearly gone but you can see that the flowers were yellow and pink and the leaves were green. The green paint has lasted. It has a little rust. The "basket" looks like a basket with a handle but the paint is gone. It is almost 5 1/2 inches tall. It is not hallmarked. It certainly could be used as a book end.
