For vegetable gardens and flower beds (new gardens): Apply 2.5-5 lbs per 100 square feet, mixing thoroughly into the top 3'' of soil during spring or fall. For vegetable gardens and flower beds (transplants): Add 1-2 tsp per hole, blend into soil, and water well. For outdoor containers (new plantings): Incorporate 1-2 tbsp per gallon of soil for robust growth. For trees and shrubs (established plants): Spread 1 lb per 1'' of trunk diameter from base outwards to the drip line, mix into the soil surface and water in well.
