Item description

Copyright 1928; Applewood's third printing, 1997, new. Original 23 chapters, 212 pages. Glossy frontispiece. #6 in the Hardy Boys series, a now out-of-print facsimile Applewood book that is part of the "super first ten" books in the series, those ten being acclaimed as the best-written of the entire series. Author was Leslie McFarlane. In 1964, the text was drastically gutted and condensed by David Grambs under the "Franklin W. Dixon" Stratemeyer Syndicate pseudonym for the Hardy Boys books, unrecognizable from the original. This is the meticulously replicated Leslie McFarlane 1928 original text in a crisp colorful dust jacket. No markings/writing besides an inked gift inscription on the front free endpaper, but there is an unfortunate stain on the side page block, as if coffee were spilled on the bottom half of the side of the book. Applewood sales were not what was hoped, so this volume is now out of print. NOTE: When we ship to an address within NY state, youโ€™re out of luck. An 8.75% sales tax must be added to your purchase.
