Item description

Peggy Yunque Celtic Irish Angel Wreath Brooch Pin Pewter NY Designer Original Hand Crafted Jewelry Handmade Item Circle Artist Signed New York City Shop The Shape Of Lies Store Greenwich Village Religious Cherubs Wings This is a unique brooch by the renowned designer and jewelry artist, Peggy Yunque from New York. The pewter brooch is based on a replica of an old 8th century angel from Co. Offaly, the angels are repeated in a circle pattern to create a wreath. She has been selling her creations since 1979 and she began her career by creating jewelry based on designs used by ancient civilizations and ancient relics, which she sold to many museum stores such as the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the New York Public Library. She often incorporated ancient symbols and images from Roman, Greek and Celtic history in her jewelry. This brooch is signed “ 1997 Yunque NYC” on the back of the brooch (It is difficult to read the last number so it may be 1991). It measures approximately 1 inches in diameter. Hillary Rodham Clinton frequently wore a crossed-wings lapel pin while she was campaigning for her husband in his 1992 campaign, which was designed by Yunque. You can find the photos of Hillary, if you Google that campaign; she is wearing a blue suit in the picture. Peggy has a store named “The Shape of Lies”, which was founded in 1987 in her home in Greenwich Village. The shop is not only Peggy’s studio, but she lives in the apartment attached to the shop, where she also sells hand crafted items made by local New York artists. It is in great pre-owned condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. I have not polished this as I did not want to affect the finish or the patina. I will leave any polishing up to you. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe. This would be a wonderful addition to your collection of figural jewelry; it is a piece of wearable art that is sure to be a conversation starter. The Angels will make a great Christmas gift, the perfect brooch to wear to all those holiday parties.
