The Turkish Fir, an evergreen conifer, is native to the mountainous regions of Turkey. In its natural habitat, this fir can grow to heights of 60 to 80 feet. It flourishes in USDA zones 5 to 7, and Zone 8 in the Pacific Northwest. Considered tougher and grows faster than Nordmann Fir
Turkish Fir is known for it's shape, fragrance, and dark blue-green evergreen needles that have a silvery underside. Branches are strong and well spaced, making it a poplar Christmas trees. Also makes a outstanding specimen tree for the landscape and is excellent for windbreaks.
Best Grown in full sun to part shade. Great Choice for Christmas tree growers looking for a more resilient evergreens in hotter locations, including the Southwest, Texas, Utah, or the Southern inland part of California. Turkish Fir also preforms well in the Northern States. Great for cut or living Christmas Trees.
Turkish Fir can also tolerate damp soils and is more resistant to Phytophthora root rot, which can be a major problem in Christmas Tree Production in some areas.
Likes well drained, fertile acidic soil.
