Vintage 1975 Buck-L-Up BARETTA BIRD Belt Buckle Pewter TV Det Robert Blake
1975 Buck-L-Up ?Baretta Style? Belt Buckle ? Hand Crafted Pewter, TV Detective Tribute
Channel vintage cool with this 1975 Buck-L-Up belt buckle, hand crafted in pewter and brimming with character.
Featuring a textured portrait of a man with a cockatoo perched on his shoulder, this piece evokes the unmistakable swagger of Tony Baretta, the streetwise detective played by Robert Blake in the hit 1970s TV series Baretta. Whether intentional homage or pop culture coincidence, the resemblance is uncanny?and collectors will recognize the nod.
Marked ?Buck-L-Up 1975? and ?Hand Crafted Pewter,? this round buckle showcases fine detail in both the figure?s expression and the bird?s featherwork. It measures approximately 2 3/4" inches across and includes a sturdy loop for belt attachment.
Stylistically, this buckle fits squarely within the Glam Rock aesthetic?bold, expressive, and era-defining. It?s a wearable slice of 1970s pop culture, perfect for fans of vintage TV memorabilia, handcrafted accessories, or those curating a collection of statement pieces from the golden age of swagger.
A standout for fans of vintage TV memorabilia, handcrafted accessories, or 1970s Americana. Whether you're curating a collection or just want to wear a little mystery on your waist, this buckle delivers.
SOME EXTRA INFO: Robert Blake played the streetwise detective Tony Baretta in the 1970s TV series Baretta, famous for his undercover antics and his cockatoo sidekick, Fred. Blake won an Emmy for the role in 1975, and the show became a cultural touchstone for gritty cop dramas with a quirky twist.
As for Fred the cockatoo?fun fact: ?Fred? was actually played by multiple birds, most notably a female cockatoo named Lala. She had stunt doubles, a Hollywood trainer, and even her own IMDB page. So yes, the bird had a resume.
Beyond Baretta, Blake had a long and varied career:
? He was a child actor in the Our Gang (Little Rascals) series under the name Mickey Gubitosi.
? He starred in the chilling 1967 film In Cold Blood, playing real-life murderer Perry Smith.
? He appeared in David Lynch?s Lost Highway (1997) as the enigmatic ?Mystery Man.?
Robert Blake passed away in March 2023 at the age of 89. His later years were overshadowed by legal drama?he was tried and acquitted for the murder of his second wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, but found liable in civil court.
