Item description
The vintage metal candy dish described appears to be made of pewter and possibly depicts an ancient design. It is uncertain whether the metal is indeed ancient pewter, as indicated by the title. The dish is manufactured in China and is not handmade. With its mystery surrounding the material and design, this collectible piece adds a touch of history and intrigue to any metalware collection.
7 1/2? wide. 3 1/4? tall
This is a very vintage metal dish. I just cleaned it up with some metal polish and I have honestly never seen anything like it. It?s obviously very old and from China. I believe that the metal is probably pewter. It is made out of what appears to be four pieces And the sides and bottom are welded together. There is also a very thin strip of copper or brass around the top, which would actually make the fifth piece. While it is stamped China on the bottom, you can tell by even looking at the stamp that it was made a long time ago when the manufacturing was more rudimentary.
If anybody else has ever seen one of these before and knows what it is, please contact me and let me know. I really really like it and I really don?t even wanna get rid of it.
