Item description

Vintage Native American Polychrome Wedding Vase Signed: V Fragua Southwest Indian Pottery Vintage...Traditional ...Rare Excellent Vintage Condition...One noticeable chip on rim...could easily be repaired....so I've priced this piece accordingly. Purchased in 1980 at the Jamez Pueblo...New Mexico Drop Dead Gorgeous This little treasure stands approx. 5 inches tall and measures 11 inches in diameter This rare Native American Wedding Vase would be the centerpiece of any collection, as it has been in mine! VIRGINIA "PONCA" FRAGUA Virginia Ponca Fragua is of the Jemez Corn Clan and has been an active potter since 1977. She now signs her work V. P. Fragua, Ponca Flower....earlier signatures were more simple...V Fragua. Virginia specializes in Melon bowls, Jars with Kiva steps, seed pots, wedding vases and small canteens. She digs her clay from the Jemez Reservation, uses natural paints and fires her pottery outdoors. She was taught by her mother Lenora Fragua and her cousin Laura Gachupin. Virginia is noted for her high necked vases combining highly polished redware and creamware melon and swirl forms having matte polychrome designs. Many vases offered by Two Ravens Pottery incorporate her Corn Clan symbols and are wonderful creations. Awards: 2nd 1990 New Mexico State Fair; Jemez Pueblo Red Rocks Arts Craft Show.
