Little can be found on the Veterans Service League of California save for the fact of there being a First World War poster in the collection of the Huntington Library. Chances are that as an entity it did not outlive the founding members. This cap though is a very attractive symbol of post-war optimism (in either war) and a look forward to the America they were building. Tagged as 7 1/4 although seems a little smaller to me. There are some moth bites that go all the way through. These could be hidden by pins. I think though that the hat itself is pretty scarce and doesn't require any embellishment. I believe it dates from the time of the Second World War and represents home front support..
